  • Excerpt: I recently upgraded from an 8-year old Olympus DSLR with a kit lens to a Canon 6D body and this lens. Sure, the lens is pricey, but wow, I was blown away by how much better my images look with superior glass.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction

Enough better than the Tamron?

29 June 2015
  • Excerpt: I previously owned a few couple of other zooms roughly in this range: Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS and Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC. I can't directly compare from the EF-S since I now use full frame, but I can comment on the others.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Rugged
  • Cons: Heavy

8 June 2015
  • Excerpt: Just received this lens last week, and the photos are just unbelievably crisp and clear. Next to my old Canon 70-200mm L Series, it's the best lens I've ever owned. I highly recommend it.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction

Best Mid-Range zoom avaialble

MarkM, B&H Photo
2 June 2015
  • Excerpt: This has to be one of the sharpest zoom lenses I own, just as sharp as the 70-200. It will not replace the 24 1.4, 35 1.4, 50 1.2 or 85 1.2 ina sense of light gathering, those are obviosuly ment for different purposes as they are faster lenses.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Sharpness, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Plastic Filter Threading

Great successor to awesome normal zoom

Clem S. Mckown, Amazon
30 May 2015
  • Summary: I recently replaced my old EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM with this lens (the old lens was simply worn out). This is a really nice redesign. Image quality is improved. Size is slightly smaller and it balances better than the previous lens.

I had to get it long ago

iD, B&H Photo
27 May 2015
  • Excerpt: I shoot a lot; my main lens has always been Canon EF 24-105 F4.0L IS and its got broken (it served long and honestly, I have no problems here). And I got 24-70 F2.8. After several shoots I've got the taste of the new lens - the improvement in image quality is tremendous!
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: 82 Mm Filter Diameter, Expencive, Heavy

Great Lens

SHaron H., Newegg
22 April 2015
  • Pros: Having owned the 24-70 2.8L for several years, for those of you wondering if it is worth the cash to upgrade I would say while not a night and day difference there are enough improvements to make it a worth while investment. The focus is faster, the lens is somehow smaller in overall size, but bi...
