Excerpt: One of the most important features in a lens is the focal length or focal length range - get it wrong and you might not be able to take the shots you want. And the use for a particular focal length or focal length range varies, of course, depending on the FOVCF of the body being used. That said, this lens gives us a very nice general purpose focal range to work with. On a full frame body, 24mm is very wide.
Excerpt: Gary Wolstenholme takes a close look at this popular 'L' series lens which covers a 4.4x zoom range, has a constant maximum aperture of f/4 as well as image stabilisation and an ultrasonic focusing motor.
Pros: Excellent resolution in the centre throughout the zoom range, Excellent performance towards the edges when stopped down, Great Image Stabiliser, Good build quality, Fast silent autofocus
Cons: CA levels towards edges throughout the zoom range a little high
