My new favorite lens

James, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: This is becoming my new 'favorite' lens. First it's 2.8 so it's pretty fast. On my 7DMII, crop sensor it gives a little step back, which is great for architecture and landscapes. (90 degree field of view) Note: This is not a portrait lens, not for closeup people photography. This is also not an L-Series Lens, but that means the price is very reasonable compared to the L-Series.
  • Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Strong Construction, USM

  • Summary: Really good lens. One of my favorites. Haven't really been bothered by vignetting. For someone with not too much money to spend, this is a good buy.

  • Summary: Wide angle is my favorite, both for photo and video. Any wider, and you'll get obvious warping in your picture.

Handy and Versatile

M, Amazon

  • Summary: I use this lens all the time and am very pleased with the image quality and ease of use. One thing you should be sure of is whether this will work on your EOS camera. Because sensor my 40D has, it cannot take advantage of super wide angle lenses. The more professional series camera bodies are designed to take advantage of the widest angle lenses. With that said, I highly recommend this lens.

Good lens for serious amateur

Canon
29 August 2014
  • Conclusion: Short and simple. This lens is does exactly what I expected it to do - take great photos. One can get a balanced impression and make a judgment about this lens by reading all the reviews. It is made for the serious amateur, maybe not for the pro. I have owned my Canon 20mm for about three years, and have produced clear, sharp, award-winning photos. My interests are landscape contests and stock photos. I don't need to push my lenses like a pro. I use it with a 40D.
  • Pros: Superior build quality
