Excerpt: nice and sharp even on my old Canon 40D which this picture was taken, now when the desert wildflowers bloom in the spring I won't have to get up and down off the ground this is especially hard for me being over 3/4 century old I can even get shots handheld like this one
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh
Excerpt: Everything you could ask for in a Macro lens. Works exactly as eve one describes. Coming from the 100 macro you get much more focal length and even sharper. It is worth the money to just start with this lens instead of trying to finds a replacement. It just won't hopped If you are looking for a long focal length macro lens. Canon 180 3.5 L will not disappoint you at all. Little tough to hand hold but that is why there is mono pods and tripods.
Summary: I have been using this lens for a few months now and I am extremely happy with it. You must realize that every lens has its limitations. This lens has the best image quality I have yet to see. I also own the 50 L and the 70-200 f4 L. They are also great lenses, but this one seems special. Really tough to hand hold but it is possible. Really good with monopod and exceptional with a tripod.
