Summary: This lens is Canon's best and newest wide angle zoom and out performs my 17-40mm f4 by a small margin. It is well built and has nice contrast.
Pros: fast, good resolution, good constrution, nice contrast and colour.
Summary: I have recently bought this lens in the UK to go with a Canon 5D, as the cheapest way into full frame, even though I am at heart a Nikon user. Cant run to a D700 sadly.
Summary: Canon's L-Series lenses are a solid foundation to producing great images... the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 II USM lens is no exception. The focus is quick and the image is crisp.
Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Easy To Clean, Lightweight, Sharp Focus
Summary: I have both the 16-35MM II and the 17-40mm. At the end of the day the images produced by both lenses are sharp. The main difference is the speed. f/2.8 v f/4.
