This a must have for any serious photographer, amateur or professional.

Summary: I am so excited about this lens! Not only can you capture the light of a firefly's eyes, but you can stand back and capture an image surrounded by a beautiful bokeh. It is helping me become a much better photographer because I find that using it in manual focus mode while using a tripod is the secret. Remember, look for the light!!!
Summary: I take lots of portrait photography, which is what I got this for, but I had to get so far away from the subject that I almost couldn't get the right photos because of lack of space. I ended up selling it and use my 50mm most often. This lens is really heavy and good quality.
If I had a second chance, I'd buy this lens again.

Summary: This lens is perfect for shots up-close, as well as portraits and just about any other type of shot you could squeeze into the frame. The focus is one of the quickest I've used, and the focus-limiters are a nice addition, even though they aren't even needed. The pictures come out very sharp and detailed.
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM review by gunzorro

Summary: One of the best built and sharpest lenses I've ever owned. Great IS, great color. Part of my "perfect FF trio": 24 TSE II, 50/1.2L, and 100L macro. My only wish (very minor) is that the design was shorter to accommodate a recessed front element so no shade would be required for most shooting.
Pros: Just about a perfect lens!
Cons: Big lens shade (I usually use a shorter, screw-in shade)
Summary: Wonderful lens. Great for portraits and macro. This is one of the sharpest lenses that Canon makes and I'm proud to say I own one! Great replacement for my 70-200 (minus the zoom functions) it's an absolutely fantastic lens! Worth every penny!
