Summary: Touchscreen Office Notebook. Toshiba hopes this premium Tecra, with a 1080p matte screen and many of the typical amenities of a top-end business notebook, can entice those looking for a touch business computer that’s light and long on battery. Does it check all the boxes?
Pros: Good port selection, Lightweight construction, Reasonably good battery life, Supportive hinges, Low heat, Quiet under load, 3-year warranty, Matte touch panel, Great portability and battery life
Cons: Extremely grainy screen due to anti-glare filter layer, Unremarkable system performance, Throttling under load, Keyboard features soft feedback with medium key travel, Clickpad, Maintenance should be much easier for a business PC, Display lid scratches easily, Less grain on the touchscreen and a solid-state drive
Summary: Magnesium for the office. The Toshiba Tecra Z40 is officially not an Ultrabook, but it is still light and thin. Read our review to find out if it offers what you would expect from a high-quality office notebook.
Pros: Good battery runtimes, Accupoint as additional input device, Matte display, High-quality chassis, Good port variety, Security equipment, Low weight, Good wireless signal, Reasonable performance, Low temperature development, The nice case and the Accupoint.
Cons: Wear at the cover, Limited feedback from the keyboard, Clickpad, Strange position of the fingerprint reader, Display with bad measurements for the colors, Poor contrast and black value, We recommend an SSD for every user.
Summary: Eventhough this notebook is considered a good notebook with features such as lightweight magnesium construction, solid assortment of ports, good battery life, low heat and quiet operation, but it has many issues too. Issues such as the grainy screen look because of the matte finish, keyboard are too spongy, the performance suffers because of the lack of solid-state drive.
Summary: Internally, there's little to quibble over with the Toshiba Tecra Z40 series. The series' use of hard-disk drives and a mediocre display are notable missteps. Thanks to its superb battery life and specifications, the Tecra Z40 is capable of handling business or multimedia applications with ease.
Pros: The Toshiba Tecra Z40 has phenomenal battery life.
Cons: This ultrabook series relies on a mediocre display with standard resolution options.
Conclusion: There’s just no getting around the fact that business laptops are pricey compared to standard consumer-focused devices. If you don’t need business-focused features like Intel’s vPro remote management and security hardware, the pricier Pro version of Windows, or a rugged, road-friendly shell, you can get a similarly equipped consumer laptop for a whole lot less than the $1,429 asking price of this configuration of the Tecra Z40-A.
Pros: Surprisingly light, thanks to magnesium shell, Great battery life, Stays relatively cool under load
Cons: No solid-state storage at this price, Competing machines have better input devices, Lid has more flex than we’d like from a business laptop, Screen is low-res, considering price, otherwise isn’t great
Summary: For $1,229, the Toshiba Tecra Z40 offers a sturdy design that's lighter than the competition, along with more than 9 hours of battery life. We also appreciate the fingerprint sensor, which is easy to use. However, the dim display on this business Ultrabook underwhelms, and the keys are needlessly smaller than those on competing systems. We also wish Toshiba included an SSD at this price point.
Test: Toshiba Tecra Z40 - superlehce s plnou výbavou a dokováním
8 November 2014
Summary: 14“ Toshiba Tecra Z40 je menší variantou 15,6“ Tecra Z50.
