  • Conclusion: The Toshiba Satellite Z830 is a trendy, lightweight computer that ticks all the boxes. it’s thin, powerful and does everything asked of it without fuss. The Toshiba Satellite Z830 might be a little on the pricey side but it’s still one to watch.
  • Pros: Make no mistake, the Satellite Z830 is a sexy-looking laptop owing to its metallic stylings and thin dimensions. Weighing just 1.12kg it is thinner even than Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Air. The Toshiba Z830 can also boast a good selection of ports. There are 3 USB ports in total, leaving plenty of opportunity to plug in accessories such as memory cards a controller for gaming and a mouse. There’s even room for an ethernet port if needed. The speakers too are very good. L...
  • Cons: There aren’t too many downsides to the Toshiba Satellite Z830, but one of the most noticeable is that it can heat up quite a lot during use. You won’t be able to leave it on your lap for too long. The other negative here is the price. A new Toshiba Satellite Z830 with an Intel Core i3 processor will set you back around £900, and a few hundred more for an Intel Core i5 processor. However, look around online and you should be able to find one for a lot cheaper.

Review Toshiba Satellite Z830-10J Ultrabook

Notebookcheck
14 December 2011
  • Summary: Light as a feather. The power of a big notebook, but as light as a netbook. The Z830, as Toshiba's first ultrabook, presents itself with good battery runtimes and outdoor suitability. Where is the device positioned in comparison to the ultrabook competition from Asus, Acer, Lenovo and co.? Find all details here in this review.
  • Pros: Extremely light for 13.3 inches, Rigid within the realms of what's possible, Fingerprint resistant surfaces, Comparatively many ports, Many ports at the rear, Good keyboard, High application performance, Full performance on battery power possible, Low heat dissipation, Is light and acceptably solid or heavy(-ier) and as stiff as a board preferable? The difference in build is tremendous compared with the Asus UX31 (13.3 inch, 1300 grams). However, both approaches will ...
  • Cons: Permanently audible fan, No docking option, Weak colors, viewing angles on the TFT, Built-in battery, Moderate battery life, Stiff mouse keys, Free-fall test: passed. Pressure test: passed. Spill test: passed. - But what about the noise test? Do Toshiba's product developers not listen to the noise development? There's need for improvement here. No other ultrabook has come up with a disturbing fan until now.
