Summary: Prior to my alienware i had a Sony Laptop. Wife needed a new laptop and she wanted to get a Toshiba. With my sony, i had a fan break. Sony had a technician come out to my home, clean laptop and replace fan free of charge. Now, wife's laptop is less than a year old and one of the screws on the hinge that connects the screen to the keyboard came off and it sags.
Summary: Great laptop. They have upgraded the keys so that you don't have to press so hard while typing. Only flaw is Windows 8. But I downloaded Start Menu 8 by IOBIT and that solved a lot of problems.
Summary: I really have enjoyed this laptop. The battery would not charge when I first received it---it worked just fine with the power cord plugged in. I called Toshiba about this issue and in no time I had a brand new battery shipped to me and it works like a charm now. I love the keyboard on this---I am very particular about keyboards and this one is great! I did a lot of research about laptops before purchasing and I don't think that there is a better laptop for the money.
Summary: For the price of $660 new, this is well worth it. The i7 is blazing fast, the radeon card kicks and plays games like Skyrim. Everything on it is great. Trackpad is great too. The only thing it could use is a backlit keyboard. Nice!
Summary: I've been using this laptop for 9 months now. My favorite thing about it is the battery life, it lasts a long time for a pc. The things I don't like are: 1) the touchpad - it has a griddy texture on it, so if you use the touchpad a lot, you will eventually get a callous on your finger. It's uncomfortable so I had to get a wireless mouse and I have to carry it around with me. (My previous laptop did not have this texture and I used it for 8 years no problem.
Summary: So, I bought this laptop several months back and love it. But, my only problem is that-from what I can tell in the pictures-it looks like this computer should be able to play Blu-Ray discs. But, this afternoon, I tried to watch my Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray on it and it just says there's no disc. I've checked the disc, itself, and it's fine. It plays on my blu-ray player for my TV but not on my computer. So, I'm not sure if it's the computer or I'm just reading the ad wrong.
Summary: I ordered the laptop because I was having problems with my laptop that had XP on it. I couldn't upgrade anything on it so decided I would bite the bullet and order a new one. I first tried a refurbished one that wasn't the S800 series. Of course I didn't order it through Amazon which was my first mistake.
