Review Toshiba Satellite S855D-S5256 Notebook

Notebookcheck
16 October 2012
  • Summary: Discount Entertainment. Toshiba’s updated 15.6-inch mid-range notebook seeks to provide a viable alternative to more expensive gaming-capable models. Sporting an AMD Trinity chipset surrounded by a sleek but basic construction, how does it fare against the ever-fierce competition?
  • Pros: Great gaming performance for an integrated GPU, Blu-ray drive, Above average speakers, Good battery life, Bright screen, The stylish appearance, good speakers, and surprisingly capable gaming performance for an integrated GPU lay the foundation for a competitive budget entertainment notebook.
  • Cons: Cheap-feeling, fragile plastic casing, Weak CPU performance, Inhibitive number and positioning of ports, High-gloss screen, Apparent throttling under heavy stress, Unremarkable WLAN adapter, Fewer compromises elsewhere in an effort to save cost. In exchange for the above-listed advantages, the Satellite S855D is deficient in too many other areas that matter.
