Summary: Expensive entertainer. Powerful hardware, strong speakers and a built-in Blu-Ray drive - let the fun begin. Toshiba's new multimedia all-rounder has its strengths but is let down by the poor screen. Is the notebook still worth its price of 1200 Euro (~$1500)?
Pros: High application performance, Good workmanship, HDD + SSD, 4 RAM slots, Powerful speakers, Long battery life, A built-in BD drive and the great sound quality underline the Satellite's multimedia characteristics.
Cons: High price, Disappointing screen, Keyboard yields marginally, Touchpad dropouts during CPU load, GPU throttling on battery power, We miss a high-end Full HD screen to make it a perfect, well-designed bundle.
Summary: The Toshiba Satellite P875 uses the latest Intel processors and Nvidia Graphics cards to offer an excellent performance for both office and gaming tasks. The metal shell and Blu-ray player are nice touches but the lack of a Full HD screen is a big let-down.
Pros: Powerful latest generation Intel processor; Good gaming performance; fairly attractive metal shell; comparatively well priced.
Cons: Screen is not Full HD; plastic bezel looks and feels extremely cheap; poor audio.
Conclusion: Toshiba's Satellite P875-31P is very much the powerhouse. It might not have the most exciting or revolutionary design on the market right now, but for those looking for a large notebook to replace an outdated desktop PC this can do the job.
Pros: Nice finish on chassis, powerful enough to replace a desktop PC.
Cons: Cheap feeling keyboard, plastic construction not reflected in price., Heavy, bulky and cumbersome, non Full HD 17in screen means that movies don't look as crisp as they could.
