Summary: First of all, i want to state that this is my first review ever. If i'm happy with the product, i don't feel like saying anything, enough with my positive vote. Bought it last year, regular use because i was on my thesis project. Suddenly, six months later saw some sparkles inside the usb ports at the right (it didn't have anything plugged in).
Summary: This review isn't going to be very helpful because I'm simply too pissed off to get into any details about what happened. This computer lasted about a month and crashed 3 times. I've been playing phone tag with Toshiba ever since. I finally gave up and gave this the deep six. Maybe it was just bad luck. Not sure, but this computer was crap.
Toshiba P755-S5385 shuts down automatically with the battery connected
18 November 2012
Summary: I bought this laptop. But using it is very difficult.. If with the battery and cable pluged it keeps shutting down automatically.. after 1-2 minutes... I runs only if I take the battery off and plug the cord.. Very bad.. I don't have any clue why this happens.. and if changing to a new battery will help fix this bug...
Summary: This laptop failed utterly after 2 months. I am informed by Toshiba that I must pay $24.95 for shipping to have it repaired. This policy is outrageous and not just unacceptable, but thoroughly insulting to a loyal customer. If possible I will never purchase another Toshiba product.
Summary: THIS MODEL SEEMED A GOOD VALUE FOR THE PRICE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE KEYBOARD WAS WIRED INCORRECTLY. EG: Q=Z, Z=A ETC. QUALITY CH'D, I DON'T THINK SO!!!!MY CREDIT FROM AMAZON UPON RETURN WAS HANDLED PROMPTLY.
Summary: My employer purchased this laptop for me. I hate it. There is no other way to describe my feelings regarding this laptop other than pure unadulterated hatred. Why? The keyboard chicklets detach constantly, the right control key constantly sticks mid sentence, the usb ports are flaking out in less than 8 months, the dvd player randomly pops out, and most of all the trackpad is pure and complete trash!
Summary: I once was a big fan of Toshiba and its customer service. Not after my last two laptops. We bought this laptop for our son. Five months after the purchase, the operating system just shut down. I used a Linux startup disk to get to the hard drive to grab copies of his summer term papers. But the Toshiba rescue disks would not boot up -- even though the Linux disk did. So Toshiba charged me $25 to ship the laptop to their repair facility.
Summary: To begin with I will say I've never spent less than $1500 on a computer, so maybe I just didn't know what I would be getting for $700 something. But this computer stinks. It has had non stop problems since about a month out and is really annoying. The cord to it just stopped working and I had to buy another. The battery can't keep it running for even an hr and usually won't charge at all. I get nothing but error messages and lock-ups all day long.
