Summary: The blurb on the DSE website about this product says "Enjoy your DVD/Blu-ray™ player ". Well I just bought this machine and sat down to watch a Blu-Ray movie only to discover that my laptop DOES NOT HAVE A BLU-RAY drive!! It was not until I re-checked the specs on this website that I discovered in the fine print that under Optical Drive it says "DVD-SuperMulti Drive", despite what it says in blurb.
Summary: I bought this today, in the first four hours I've had it, it has crashed 6-7 times. Windows 8 is unimaginably goofy to use. I have been using windows home computers since 1993, I've never enjoyed apple products but this is going back tomorrow.
Summary: I was very excited to bring home my new laptop. The specs were higher than most in store with a price that was quite good. The speed is good and the machine is super quiet, however in the first four hours that I had the machine home it crashed 4 times. I will be returning the machine for something else today. I don't want to take a chance on keeping it more than 14 days.
Summary: I bought this laptop September 2013 during the few days of use I experienced a lot of Blue Screen crashes. I returned it and they replaced it with a new one same model. When I received the new one it was pretty okay no problems so far but after a month I experienced the Blue Screens again and it is now happening frequently. I went to Futureshop and complained this problem to them and they said they will send it back to Toshiba because it is Toshiba's fault.
Summary: I am extremely unhappy with this laptop. First, it was shipped with an insufficient power supply - a 2-prong plug - which means every time I touched it, I would receive mini-shocks, which made it very uncomfortable to use. I looked up the problem online and apparently because of the metal casing, it needs to be grounded. I phoned Toshiba Canada and they sent me out a 3-prong supply very quickly, which was great, and they were great. Problem solved.
Summary: The computer is slow for it's specs and the fan is extremely loud. It also crashed numerous times despite a clean install, updated drivers and without any of my own software having been installed. Returning it was an easy decision.
Summary: I've now bought two of these units and they've both exhibited a bizarre, electronic vibration when you run your hand long the surface around the mousepad and deck. I will have to return this one as well. If the basic construction isn't done properly, I can't keep it. Very disappointing first impression with Toshiba, and a huge waste of my time.
Summary: First off the touch pad is flimsy and mine came with bottom corner pushed in too much, making it not work 100%. Computer gave me BSOD a few times and LAN adapter doesn't work, doesn't even show up. Installed my SSD drive and installed Win 8. Toshibas web site doesn't even have any of the correct drivers for that model of laptop so I had to dig around and to find them on google.
Summary: I am the first to admit that I'm not computer savvy. I am still learning the basic essentials with all the new Microsoft software. Yet somehow I managed to change the bios password on this unit. Again, I am not computer savvy, yet I was able to locate and set a bios password, unbeknownst to me that I had done so, and when I decided to exchange my laptop for a smaller model (I had a 17" originally) Future shop personnel practically shoved the laptop back at me and said...
