Summary: Bought the computer a week ago. Has been working fine. Took me about one whole day for updates. The speed is ok. But was expecting something like a Mac since it has a similar processor, Not!!. It takes 10 minutes to turn on the computer, which is not efficient at all if the class already started. It has a nice design. But overall the computer has not reached my espectations. For the price I paid is an ok computer and the size is perfect for school.
Summary: I love this laptop. it has beautiful graphics and sound and is lightning fast. I don't even have the loud fan problem others seem to be having. my problem is the shockingly short battery life. Surfing or downloading on wifi will last about one and a half hours on full charge, seriously. this is my first laptop and I had heard that the battery life was not fantastic, but yikes!
Summary: just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that this Toshiba M-645 S4070 may not be created equally in all retail environments. My husband suggested I check the product specs before I pushed the final transaction button....and boy, am I glad I did. I thought I would be saving $70 plus tax on Amazon over Best buy, but found that the processor was an i-3 instead of the i-5 and that the hard drive was 5400 rpm instead of the 7200 rpm. So, like I said...
Summary: I was looking for an inexpensive laptop that had a Core I3 and over 3gig RAM to run multimedia applications. The cost to speed ratio on this laptop combined with the look and feel prevailed over its numerous shortcomings. Pros: Love the chicklet keys, nice brushed metal feel, nice HD screen, big specs for low cost.
Summary: pros + backlit keyboard + amazing speakers (like, best I've heard on a laptop, amazing (though my new xps 14 is at least equal to these) + circular scrolling is extremely effective + high resolution hdmi out + nice slot loading dvd drive + FN keys accessible from the screen with the mouse + boots very quickly if you enable it cons -extraordinarily loud fan * fan turns on at a high power level even when laptop is idle -keyboard keys occasionally (often) fail -extremely...
Summary: NO BLU RAY as ADVERTISED last September 26,2010.... I was shocked when I received this laptop it has NO BLU RAY on it but in the description when I bought it last September 26,2010 there is....Please explain the sudden change of specs???
Summary: Buy a Dell. I tried to set up trial version of Office, the instructions provided are wrong. The version of Office loaded was wrong, and had to be removed, I had to buy the software (no free trial). Toshiba customer service is arrogant and bad. "Don't blame us, that's all Microsoft's fault." Battery lasts about an hour or less, not three. So, you don't get what is advertised, but you get tons of finger pointing and frustration.
Summary: I had a Satellite series and it worked great. So I bought a new one. Within a few months the modem went bad. When I took it to a local Toshiba authorized repair center, they said they had seen a lot of the new Toshiba Satellites with this problem. I had UPS it to Toshiba for repair. They have had it for a month now and their excuse is that they don't have the parts in stock.
Summary: I have a Satellite A-15-S129 costs abot 1k. I got it on sale and decided to get it.After the first year the Fan is kinda bad, and the Combo drive has probelms reading sometimes.
