Summary: First off I put in that I wanted a touch screen so I'm not sure why this was put in those search parameters, but I will take credit for that one. Now that I have had is for less than a year the fan makes so much noise that I can hardly here the sound coming out of it. I leave it only on hard surfaces and still it gets so hot that the fan kicks in and then I can't even pick it up sometimes its so hot on the bottom.
Summary: I usually don't give bad reviews but you should be well informed before buying it. I expected better performance from this laptop. My previous (and older) Toshiba runs faster than this one. This laptop is suuuuuuper slow, it is extremely stressing to just open a document and it freezes when I open adobe reader. It is just slow in everything. When I try to browse, it takes forever to open explorer, and more to open a website.
Summary: I'm huge on Toshiba, I own a ton of Toshiba brand products- I was using a Thinkpad T61 from 2007 up until a few days ago (it finally kicked the bucket after 6 years of superb performance) However, this Satellite is truly tremendously horrible. It looks and feels like a toy- when you turn it on it takes a while to load the bloatware infested Windows 8- after about 10 days you'll begin to notice all of the pop-ups asking for you to buy the included trial software, it...
Summary: IN REPLY TO THE REPLY FROM MANUFACTURER: This is no a wifi connectivity problem. It is connected. The speed test shows it is running at the same speed as my other computer. It is a processing problem. Web pages load slow, as do PROGRAMS (as I said in my O.P.). If there is a way to remedy this, I would love to know. If not, this is my VERY last Toshiba purchase (of any electronics). I purchased the C855 for my daughter, and we loved it!
Summary: This note book showed rather poor quality. The bottom cover was not fitted correctly - I had to take a screwdriver to it to loosen the retaining screw then adjust and then refit. The DVD drive button is stuck and did not eject the drawer - has to be done from right click on drive. The computer is a 64bit machine but appears to come with 32 bit version of IE9 pre-installed - very difficult to sort this and had to give up and use Safari.
Summary: I bought mine after returning an identical HP model (which cost £100 less). The HP wouldn't accept any of my OCZ SSD'd - something that my previous HP laptop did. When I buy any pc , the first thing I do is burn the recovery discs , because I used to work in tech support for Sony vaio helpline , and I know how often this doesn't work. Discs (win 8 or Vista 2 as I like to call it ) I started the HP HDD recovery -massive failure.
Summary: This is a really below average laptop. While the hard ware section is ok, over all it is quite poor. The computer has a really cheap plastic feel (the lid doesnt have a clip so if you try to move the laptop when the screen is down, it flaps around like a fish). The computer has TERRIBLE air circulation ... it shuts down constantly from overheating ( while being used on a table lifted up from the table to allow air to get under the laptop). Terrible power managment ...
It could be excellent in terms of performance but far from being a 'premium' (as advertised) product
3 April 2013
Summary: There is very little 'premium' feel about this product: from packaging to the overall design features and user interface it looks like another chunky brick of a laptop; flimsy keyboard, oversized charging device, etc. I have been a Mac user for many years and needed a powerful laptop to run some Windows-only software.
