Summary: I bought one in Aug 2013, 3 weeks later returned it to Best Buy where I got it, hard drive dead. After some intense verbal exchanges I got them to swap me a new laptop same model. It is now Dec 2013 and the hard drive is starting to crap out again, getting pending sector count issues and the system is getting erratic just like the last one before it totally died. I am looking for a non-Toshiba replacement drive now while I still can.
Poor quality, fragile structure, very expensive, Windows 8 the worst windows. Stay away from this model.

Summary: I did buy a Toshiba model L855-S5244 last July 2012 @ TiguerDirect.com as NEW laptop. Since I started to use, it is not fastest as the processor i7 should be. After 3 months using it, the screen was broken easily. and the factory has not warranty for it. The screen appears to be super extremely and fragile thin glass. If you have this model, my advice is never touch the screen. After I replace the screen, I can see the structure of the computer is too fragile.
Summary: Hard drive seems to have a problem. lap top was just 30 days old and was run very bad. I took it in as it was under warranty. I was told that is was a bad hard drive and that they have found that to be a common problem. Item is going to be sent in to have the hard drive replace and then I will have a nice REFURBISHED laptop when I originally bought and wanted something new. Not happy with this TOSHIBA.
Summary: This is a general Toshiba policy review that applies to all Toshiba machines. As of this date, Toshiba will not cover the $25 shipping of their defective product to them on items in full warranty, unlike Lenovo and HP. You think you are buying a more reliable machine, but the more expensive Toshiba, like other brands, had a hardware failure within 3 months. The phone system is ridiculous.
Summary: Cooling fan on laptop didn't work so it could only be on for a very short time, consequently had no real use out of it so cannot comment on how it works. Amazon is very good at giving refunds and taking goods back. 5 Stars for Amazon for excellent customer service.

Summary: After careful research, on October 24, 2012, I bought online from Toshiba Direct a Toshiba Satellite L850 customized laptop for roughly $844 with taxes. I received it 2 weeks later but was out of town on work, so when the package was officially opened, it was after the 15 day "full refund" time period. What irony?!
Summary: Although i have a different model I purchased a toshiba satellite lap top 1 1/2 years ago. Hard drive is already failing with very little use of laptop and not much movement. Supposedly is a toshiba hard drive and write ups on tech sites are not kind. Summary: Ok so I bought this computer November 3, 2012. No I didn't buy from eBay but a local store in Louisiana. I have had virus protection since I first brought the computer home and started it up, better yet one of the best virus protections you can get! It downloads new virus definitions daily not monthly! It runs a full scan periodically! But this computer is terrible!!!
Summary: I bought this computer in February 2013 and the hinges broke by August 2013. Toshiba refused to repair the hinges until the legal route was taken. Having to get a lawyer involved on a 6 month old machine to get them to back the 1 year warranty was is joke.
