Summary: A magnesium or carbon fiber case would have helped with weight. I can't believe is was not working out of the box, need better quality control.
Pros: Big screen and keyboard. Picture is good. It is still running after I did a new OS install.
Cons: This was blue screening on me as soon as I booted it on for the first time. Had to format and do a fresh OS install the first day. It is pretty slow compared to the laptops I own with the same name. This thing is heavy. Should have a lighter case. Battery life is not to be desired. Needs a better battery.
Summary: Over the last 7 years, I've bought at least 3-4 Toshiba Satellites for myself. Once I'm tired of setting this one on an ice pack to keep it from burning a hole through the table, I'm switching to something that will last.
Summary: this is a very basic laptop for web surfing, watching some movies on Youtube, or writing some stuff on Word. It's not the fastest thing in the world, and it has an annoying layout for the keyboard.
Summary: Got this for my wife for Christmas, 2012, and she loves it. I have the 855, but then, I actually work with mine - she uses hers to keep budget, emails, etc. A nice computer at a nice price, and be sure to get the accidental coverage with it.
Summary: I bought this computer over a year ago, and its still working. So I say thats enough reason to get it. I haven't had a single problem. And I travel ALOT so this computer has been through the ringer and its survived. I love the screen size, its great for watching movies. I'm not a techy kinda person, so I can't spout if its good techy wise. But i like i and haven't had any problems. So that makes it 5 stars in my book.
Summary: I bought this laptop a year ago and haven't had any issues. I use it for school, streaming movies to my tv via hdmi cable, and gaming. I really like how light weight it is and the picture quality. The only complaint I have is the cheap feel of the keyboard.
Summary: I've been using the laptop for months now and so far it has been going really well. I have used hundreds on laptops in the past few years because of my profession. I would say this is somewhere in the middle of the road when it comes to laptops in this price range. It's not the thinnest or best quality manufactured item but does not seem like it will be dying on my any time soon. the screen is very good but they keyboard is cheap, no issues with the touchpad.
Summary: I have been using this laptop for over a year now for work. It has held up extremely well. I lug this thing around all day going to our homes to work on other laptops. I recently upgraded to Windows 8, and it still runs like a charm. I did max out the RAM to 8GB when I bought it. No complaints.
Pros: Number pad, Silver, Bright monitor, Quality touchpad
