Summary: I have had this model for a little over 2 years now and I could not be happier. I upgraded the RAM to 8gb shortly after purchasing so I can't comment too much on the stock speed. I have used this laptop for gaming (Skyrim with the HD patch and full render settings) with no problems. Under heavy graphics load it does run a little warm, but no where near some of the other laptops I have had and used in the past.
Summary: 4 GB of ram isn't bad, it can run most everyday programs. It can play games such as Happy Wheels, and is very good at multitasking. It will run hot from time to time due to the accelerator, which runs programs faster than the CPU can keep up with. It's a nice computer for general tasks.
Summary: whatever you do keep your virus software updated!! i didnt now my laptop has become victim to death..replacing the parts and software is going to cost more than the laptop is worth. other than that i love it! i miss it!
Summary: Got this as a desktop backup mainly. Some have said sound is too low, you can fix this for the most part by going into HD audio settings and sliding the EQ bars up, all of em, 10 or so. This helps greatly, but keep in mind these are still just laptop speakers with limited sound range. Battery life is medium at best, but at just under 4 hours that's plenty for me for my uses.
Summary: So far, after almost one month of continued use I'm liking mt Toshiba Blue 15.6 Satellite L755-S5166 lap-top PC. The only thing I'm not liking which is not a big deal is the power cord is too close to the CD/DVD draw. You have to make sure the cord is not in front of the draw before you press the button to open it up. As suggested, I'm backing up my files on a DVD media disk. The service I received at my local WalMart (2373) located at 840 Post Rd. Warwick RI was super !
Summary: I purchased this laptop as a replacement for one that died. Was a little scared to order one online but since it was after Christmas, all the stores were wiped out. Only had the cheap ones and most expensive ones that no one wanted. Ordered the laptop on Friday and it came on Wed. Got the free shipping through Amazon so was happy with the speed. Laptop was neatly shipped and everything worked fine. Had it up and running in minutes and I'm no computer genius.
Summary: This machine serves the purpose for which it was purchased; knocked off a star due to Toshiba's warranty which costs money to utilize and is not stated in their literature. This is the 5th Toshiba laptop I have purchased and probably the 10th counting the purchases I have directly influenced for family and friends. It was purchased for my teenage daughter to use primarily for online coursework but also to rip dvds and record music.
Summary: I purchased this computer on a *black friday* lightning deal for 399. When the computer first arrived, I was concerned about it's design build. When holding/using it, it feels cheaply constructed and very *plastic-y.* Also, never set anything on top of this notebook or apply pressure to the top of it when the screen is folded down. It isn't very sturdy and your screen will become damaged.
Summary: I purchased this laptop during a Black Friday lightning deal. I've seen similar Toshiba laptops with smaller hard drives and fewer features in the ads. So far, so good. It works as advertised. I would warn people about holding the laptop at the hinge when carrying it. The center is not very well supported so the monitor presses in when holding it. I'm not sure if this is healthy for the monitor, so I try to avoid carrying it this way.
Summary: I bought this Toshiba a few weeks ago. Got one of those black Friday deals. I am very happy with this machine. It performs well for the tasks I use it for (the I3 processor has more guts than my old Pentium). I am a newbie to Windows 7, but I like it so far. I generally use the Toshiba as a desk-top - with a larger monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse, although when I do use it as a laptop the screen is fine, and the touch pad is easy to use.
