Summary: I bought this laptop from Best Buy too. Initially I was going to order it online and pick it up at the store the same day (the website told me I could get it the same day), but after I had completed the order form it told me that the computer would be ready for pickup in a couple weeks. I canceled the order, and later went to the store and bought it there with no problems. Lesson learned: Do not buy from Best Buy.
Summary: Beyond all good features and quality screen, there is something I don't like. The battery is WEAK. I mean really weak. If you keep your laptop turned off for about 2 weeks you may discover that your laptop is not booting - not enough juice! Another paradox is the wireless card in the FTP mode: it is very-very slow. I have no explanation why it occurs but I see that the upload speed is about 70KB/sec, no more.
Summary: I have had this laptop for 2 1/2 years now. And it runs great as of today. But if you do not take care of it, it will slowly fall apart and crumble, software wise, of course. The Specs are middle of the line and theres nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. I have had issues with firefox and macaffe but after I unistalled both of them it runs like new. Overall, Toshiba is one of the companies that's a hit or miss, better than HP, worse off than a dell or an asus.
Summary: Whatever you do DO NOT UPDATE THE BIOS! Toshiba products have a high rate of failure after attempting a BIOS UPDATE. I have to replace my bios chip, possibly the motherboard and have to pay the guy for labor. The bios chips are about $10-15.00, the motherboards are about $ 200.00 and the labor is 75.00 an hour. It is not worth that much. For that price I can get several other used laptops with better options.
Summary: I've had this laptop for about a year. It's the second laptop i've ever owned. That being said, I always treat all my devices, especially my computer, with care. I've never once dropped or thrown this laptop, or carried it around without it being in it's protective case. I always make sure the keyboard/screen are clean, and I generally maintain it pretty well. As a computer, it runs fine if you maintain it.
Does the job - make sure you have some kind of warranty

Summary: I got this on a lightning deal right before Christmas. It's got plenty of memory and good speed and everything. Definitely does everything I wanted it to. However, the hard drive crashed 6 months after I got it, which was a total pain. Luckily, I store almost everything on some kind of cloud, so I didn't lose much. When it first crashed, I spent a long time on the phone with tech support. The support they give you without payment is pretty limited.
Summary: A month & a half old, my laptop stops working. After spending an hour trying to get someone to help me (the first two CSR's hung up on me), I find out Toshiba sent out an incorrect update via microsoft updater & that's what caused my laptop to shut down & not work & they will be happy to fix it for me if I pay for shipping to them. Insane.
Summary: Purchased the laptop based on price and features. This really is a pretty good configuration. Very good CPU speed for home use. My son can even play fairly demanding video games on it. However, I really dislike the off-center touch pad. It looks odd. The navigation keys on the right hand side of the base take way too much real-estate. The battery that came with the shipment lasted only 2.25 hours fully charged.
Summary: I have owned computers for aprox 25 years. With the purchase of this laptop I was not looking for a high end model. I just wanted dependability and fairly basic functions. I would have liked this laptop very much, but the one problem that blew the whole deal for me is the low volume of the internal speakers. I even returned the first model back to the store and still have the same problem with the replacement model. The internal speakers are way too quiet.
