Summary: This probably would have been a good product had the seller packaged it properly. When it arrived the screen was cracked and the power cord was missing. Luckliy I had a cord from another laptop that fits this one. I will never purchase anything from this seller again.
Summary: I work in the concert and theatre business and my laptop gets used at least 14 hours a day, at least six days a week (between work and my personal internet addiction...) My current unit is a higher version of this model and my previous one was an earlier large capacity Toshiba. My comment is about Toshiba laptops in general. I wouldn't buy another brand if I could get twice the power for half the price.
Summary: I have owned many Toshiba laptops...the L655D I have now is only 2 years old and won't start anymore. I checked Toshiba Forums and many others have the same problem. Toshiba wants $119 to diagnose it and $354 to fix the motherboard. At that point, I would just buy another laptop...of course never a Toshiba again. Trust me...stay away from this brand.
Summary: I bought one in December, 2010, after reading favorable reviews about performance, etc. I also bought the 3-year extended warranty, which was an additional $200. So far, I am getting my money's worth out of the warranty (and the laptop is less than 2 years old.) As the title says, it works "OK" WHEN IT WORKS. I bought it specifically for internet use, and to run programs such as Photoshop. (Nothing too heavy duty).
Summary: I've had this laptop for just under two years now. The physical construction is solid and it's a decent machine with decent specs out of the box. It's great for everyday computing and browsing, and performs well for more demanding tasks like code compilation, mid-level gaming, and Photoshop. Since I've gotten it, however, I've had to replace the hard drive, keyboard, LCD inverter and display, and battery, each due to sudden and complete failure.
Summary: This was a pretty good laptop until the hard drive failed. It had decent power for everyday tasks as well as some lite-games. The hard drive did last for 1yr 4mo but that is too short. Of course it is out of warranty.
Summary: Approximately 2 months ago, after reading reviews from many different sites, I purchased the Toshiba Satellite laptop and have been so thrilled with it in every aspect! My brother called recently asking what was a good Laptop to purchase and I raved about this one. He asked me to purchase it for him through my Amazon which I did and he is also thrilled with it. Last night my husband was "pouting" about how he would like his own...so this A.M. I purchased one for him.
