Summary: Don't buy it here's why. 1. The laptop is filled with bloatware from Toshiba. It runs slower than my 5 year old Acer. 2. The Toshiba brand hard drive inside completely failed. Had to buy a new hard drive. 3. The dc jack easily breaks. Just a poor design. Spent a lot of money getting that repaired.
Summary: This isn't the exact model laptop I bought, I have the L655-1562 not the 1561. The differences are minor however and judging by the picture they are physically identical. This is a very clunky laptop. I don't care about having a sleek laptop like a Mac but this one is just ridiculous. I feel like the screen can fall off at any moment because the hinges are poor.
Summary: I have owned many Toshiba laptops...the L655 I have now is only 2 years old and won't start anymore. I checked Toshiba Forums and many others have the same problem. Toshiba wants $119 to diagnose it and $354 to fix the motherboard. At that point, I would just buy another laptop...of course never a Toshiba again. Trust me...stay away from this brand.
Excerpt: I bought this and paid 2000.00 under the imperssion that it would last the computer went down after the warr. ran out just over a year and the computer repair guy told me it would cost more to fix it then it cost to but it and I am still paying on it.
Excerpt: I purchased the Toshiba laptop back in January and started having problems from the get go. I had geek squad from Best Buy come in and help set up the computer. They did a awesome job but the computer was definetly not worth the money I paid for it. It was slow and had problems getting online. I purchased it to work from home and be able to send email and have many programs open at once. For my needs and for the use it was not able to do and work as I needed it to.
Excerpt: I have this very laptop and am using it...one thing I do not like about it is that the keys became sprung really easy, & yet, I am very light and fast while typing.... My next laptop will be a dell....
fast, sleek... but what good is that with so many problems?

Excerpt: It started off with such promise. The Toshiba Satellite notebook was so aesthetically appealing; sleek gray in design, thin and curved. A large screen, bright inviting colors. I fell for it, and for the first few months of our relationship, it was everything I wanted in a computer. It obeyed, it worked quickly. Compared to the dull workhouse Dell I had lived with for years, the Toshiba was an exciting change. It made me smile.
Summary: I am a computer tech and brought this for college. Hard drive died a few months after a year and the computer constantly overheated. The design is horrible, your fingerprints will be left everywhere and I had to wipe the computer off multiple times a day. Never again toshiba...never again.
Summary: Whoever is reading this review, I will advice please do not buy this laptop. It started giving me trouble 2 months after I bought it. It would take half an hour to start up. The hard disk was faulty. It was replaced by service center and I sent it back to them 3 times in a span of 7 months with host of other problems. It will hang up every 1 or 2 minutes, and now its gone for good.
Summary: I purchased the Toshiba L655-S5158 laptop in late January, 2011. The specs on this computer are great, but I keep having problems with it. The most serious problem is failing harddrive. The computer started showing a pattern of not fully loading Windows 7 on boot. For a while it would load Windows after a power shutdown and a reboot, but then it stopped doing that. Finally, the harddrive failed completely and I sent it into Toshiba Repair Depot.
