Summary: I can't help but notice the thing most people are complaining about are unrelated to Toshiba, or this computer in particular. Most of them are actually complaints about Windows 8, or because they can't operate a computer. For example the one below blames the computer because HE misses letters in his typing, yet in his comment he insists that it's the computer missing the letters... :O LOL! Just because you can't type doesn't mean the computer sucks...
Summary: Bought this and configured it for an elderly couple. Large screen (with proper resolution) is great for their failing eyesight. Perfect weight for them to be mobile. (Well, as mobile as elderly people can be.) HDMI out great asset to hook to their ultra large TV for even greater benefit to their ocular degeneration. Does NOT get hot, even after being powered on for long periods. The only CON I could find is difficulty in MANUALLY ejecting/opening the DVD drive.
Summary: To give this laptop less than a 5 rating would be wrong. It is very easy to understand and use also I have no problems with windows 8. To me it is just like a regular computer and works just like that. With this you just have to play around with the different functions, and maybe once in a while contact Toshiba for help, I have and they helped me solve any problems I have in one call, they stand behind this laptop.
Summary: This laptop has a high quality screen, a rather fast processor and excellent operational software via the new Windows 8 os. It is a fast and effective laptop that has met the essential needs expected.
Summary: Really like the lightweight of this particular 17" laptop. Also seems to have very quick processor and hard drive performance compared to earlier Intel dual core processors. The screen is sharp and bright as well. The speakers leave a lot to be desired, but they may not be significantly different than most non-multi-media or non-game-based designed systems.
