Summary: I bought this because I didn't have a working laptop. It's Windows 8, which I'm not sure I like, and the processor is kinda puny. It's a factory refurb, and that's very good, Toshiba has top shelf support. For the price, I could not do better, so the bottom line is that I'm pleased. I'd like a Qosmio, but the price...
Summary: Screen began to fail shortly after one year of ownership and 11 months after use as this was a Christmas gift. Toshiba expired the warranty 11 months after I bought it so they did not honor 1 year warranty. I work in the computer industry and will decide whether to buy parts and fix it or trash it. WILL NOT buy another Toshiba.
Summary: I can't help but notice the thing most people are complaining about are unrelated to Toshiba, or this computer in particular. Most of them are actually complaints about Windows 8, or because they can't operate a computer. For example the one below blames the computer because HE misses letters in his typing, yet in his comment he insists that it's the computer missing the letters... :O LOL! Just because you can't type doesn't mean the computer sucks...
Summary: Bought for my son to use at school (he is a senior in high school). Had some difficulty getting the settings correct, but after installing 46 updates it worked fine. Biggest drawback is Windows 8. It is not very user friendly and I definitely prefer the MacBook we use as our home computer (may be why I feel Windows 8 is difficult). My son loves it though and uses it daily.
Summary: Toshiba laptops in my opinion continue to have problem with their hinges. There was a previous class action brought against Toshiba for this problem. We bought a Satellite C875-S7303, less than a year ago, and the hinge broke. Sent in for warranty repair, and they refused saying it was not a warranty problem. They want over $100 to fix it. Really? The lap top was used like a desktop, and one day when opening it, the hinge cracked.
Summary: Bought this and configured it for an elderly couple. Large screen (with proper resolution) is great for their failing eyesight. Perfect weight for them to be mobile. (Well, as mobile as elderly people can be.) HDMI out great asset to hook to their ultra large TV for even greater benefit to their ocular degeneration. Does NOT get hot, even after being powered on for long periods. The only CON I could find is difficulty in MANUALLY ejecting/opening the DVD drive.
Summary: Great product for what it is .budget PC has everything the average user will need and great price use it as a desktop replacement . Toshiba always delivers even with budget units love it will buy again. Speed and storage are good big screen and good processor .
Summary: When I purchased the laptop, it worked perfectly. It has Windows 8 preloaded, which is only ok. Within 30 days of purchase, the computer would suddenly shut down a few seconds after it was powered on. It was somewhat difficult to make arrangements with Toshiba repair, and it cost 24.99 to ship it back for repairs. So "warranty" is a subjective term. Other than the fact that the computer wouldn't power up for more than a few seconds, its a great buy.
