Summary: Nice looking machine just a pity in this day and age you can't select an operating system. Windows 8 is the pits unresponsive one minute running away from you the next. And to make matters worse you can't change the operating system for a different one Toshiba have you like it or lump it
Summary: For those who use a laptop as a work tool Windows 8 is a step backwards as regards ease of use. The "apps" are of no use whatsoever and the version of Outlook is rubbish compared to Outlook Express. So Amazon, for the work user why is there no Windows 7 version?? Have looked at Umbuntu before and stuck with the familiarity of Windows but if I could buy a laptop now without Windows that would be my choice. So Amazon, do us all a favour and make that an option!!!
Summary: Because it came with Windows 8 which has caused many problems....Am still unable to connect some items..ie: Camera- Cannon Sureshot 150....Also had problem with my printer and still unable to access programmes I used on my previous laptop...
Summary: Look at the word above. The keyboard sometimes prints double characters and sometimes msses them out. I had to press the space bar twice to register it between "sometimes" and "misses". Noticeit missed th "i" from "misses". The "e" from "the" and the space before "it". It becomes a real problem when entering passwords when you can't see the characters.
Summary: The laptop itself is a good piece of furniture but Windows 8 seems to have been released without being completely there. I had serious problems with the software of first Toshiba Satellite I purchased and Amazon replaced it without question, While the second one is definitely better the software still has serious problems that need to be addressed.
Summary: Decent budget laptop, good size keyboard, good screen etc. Some ergonomic issues: these might be completely irrelevant to you, or they might be quite irritating. My old machine was a cheap Samsung, a delight to use but the hdd failed after 2 years. In comparison on the Tosh: 1) The right hand USB socket is quite close to the front of the case; the Ethernet socket is there too.
Summary: First of all, this appears to be a nice laptop but it doesn't feel particularly well built. The keyboard feels cheap and on mine at least, has a slight bump or raised part in the centre. It actually feels like a child's toy typewriter. I'm not sure how well it will last with lots of typing, my guess would be not very long. I was pleasantly surprised by the weight of the machine.
Summary: Laptop itself was good value. Problem was with mircosoft Office. Amazon product description stated that the basic version of Office was on the PC. PC required a 25 character code to activate the software. The code was not with the paperwork supplied. Amazon advised me to contact Toshiba. Toshiba stated that the PC did not come with Microsoft Office. Amazon's response was to issue a replacement PC which also did not contain Microsoft Office.
