Summary: I am very disappointed in the quality of this lap top. Had it for little over a year or so and the screen lid literally broke off, had all kinds of wires falling out. It was beyond repair. Opened it one day and it made awful crack sound and broke off.
Summary: It was advertised and marketed as a low-end gaming laptop. It is equipped with Direct X 11 and yet each DX11 game it runs on the lowest possible settings with dismally low, intolerable framerates. It is beyond low-end. It is a deep-end gaming laptop. Suitable for only games more than 5-6 years old that run on Direct X 9 or 10 if you cripple the graphic settings to the lowest options available. Skyrim is unplayable on any level of comfort.
Summary: Of the two Toshiba laptops (c55d, cs55d) I tried, BOTH had battery issues. Google "Toshiba laptop + plugged in, not charging" It is apparently a VERY common issue. While there are approximately two physical workarounds, and one software, if you prefer a hassle free experience, take this into consideration. Fortunately for me, My local Best Buy has worked tirelessly to provide me a perfectly satisfactory customer experience.
Summary: In less than FIVE MONTHS, this laptop suffered a complete hardware failure and I lost EVERYTHING!!!!!! Very upset! I lost photos, resumes, cover letters, personal information. I am very disappointed.
Excerpt: 1) windows 8 is TERRIBLE!!!!! 2) the keyboard is not very sturdy or well positioned - keys seem slightly shifted left and it makes it very confusing to try to type 3) system always has to be booted up after it has gone into power saving mode 4) speakers are not very good
Pros: Large screen, Lightweight
Cons: Insufficient Memory, Keyboard Keys Not Sturdy, Power Saving Setting, Windows 8 Terrible
Excerpt: The computer itself was great, small but had keyboard and large buttons; perfect design for contractors. Windows8 was way to complicated for what we do without it being a touch screen. I took it back and will just use my tablet for everything I do and increase my secretaries workload. Put a touch screen on this and I would buy it again! Or include a small wireless mouse so it is able to be used in the field easier.
Pros: Computer Is Ok
Cons: Better If Touch Screen, Windows8 To Complicated
