Summary: Wish They did not make windows 8.1. I enjoy this labtop b/c it has a wide area for a keyboard and a big screen. I"m big on typing so this thing can stand on it's own and is a lot bigger than other computers. It is a little bit bulky but not really heavy to lug around. The system is a bit slower than a sony computer windows seven my wife bought, but she spent one thousand dollars more. You get what you pay for. The windows 8 is really annoying to use and navigate.
Summary: I am very disappointed in the quality of this lap top. Had it for little over a year or so and the screen lid literally broke off, had all kinds of wires falling out. It was beyond repair. Opened it one day and it made awful crack sound and broke off.
Summary: windows 8 is not a good program, 7 was better. The computer freezes on line a lot. If you watch a DVD without an external hard drive be ready to hear a lot of noise. I definitely wouldn't recommend this computer.
Summary: It was advertised and marketed as a low-end gaming laptop. It is equipped with Direct X 11 and yet each DX11 game it runs on the lowest possible settings with dismally low, intolerable framerates. It is beyond low-end. It is a deep-end gaming laptop. Suitable for only games more than 5-6 years old that run on Direct X 9 or 10 if you cripple the graphic settings to the lowest options available. Skyrim is unplayable on any level of comfort.
Summary: I bought my laptop from Best Buy back in June. The 500 GB hard drive began to falter in late November-early December. I am now going to have to spend money to replace this hard drive. I would think VERY, VERY carefully before buying a Toshiba.
Summary: Of the two Toshiba laptops (c55d, cs55d) I tried, BOTH had battery issues. Google "Toshiba laptop + plugged in, not charging" It is apparently a VERY common issue. While there are approximately two physical workarounds, and one software, if you prefer a hassle free experience, take this into consideration. Fortunately for me, My local Best Buy has worked tirelessly to provide me a perfectly satisfactory customer experience.
Summary: In less than FIVE MONTHS, this laptop suffered a complete hardware failure and I lost EVERYTHING!!!!!! Very upset! I lost photos, resumes, cover letters, personal information. I am very disappointed.
