Toshiba Satellite C855 Frequent Hardware Failures

  • Summary: I bought this Toshiba Satellite C855 online in June 2013. By December 2013 it had been to the Toshiba repair shop *twice* - both times with hardware failures that they replaced (you're left without a computer for ~8 weeks while they fix it!). Now in July 2014, it has died again, with another hardware failure it seems. And since its past the 1-year warranty period, Toshiba won't help. Poorly made computer with so many hardware failures.

  • Summary: This is absolutely the worst computer I have ever owned and I am sorry I wasted my money. I have owned this for roughly a year and the case of the computer is already falling apart. I have owned Toshiba computers in the past and they were built well with a tough case that lasted. This case is flimsy and built with very thin plastic that breaks easily. To add to this poor construction the windows operating system is terrible. very difficult to use.

Windows 8 is slow and I've been trying to boot from CD for last 2 hours

  • Summary: I have been in the IT industry for over 16 years and this is the worst laptop I have ever seen, period. Windows 8 runs so slow that the time it takes to load pictures from a phone is measured in minutes. My wife, instead of using this laptop to browse the web, uses her phone instead as its quicker. At this moment, I found this while looking for a way to boot by CD so I can install Windows 7 on it and have been trying to do this for the last couple of hours.

  • Summary: This is a bargain basement laptop. I purchased this for school and its barley capable of even the simplest tasks without giving a warning saying the processor is maxed out. The keyboard leaves a lot to be desired. Do yourself a favor and spend a few hundred more for a better computer. Ive used this one semester and hated every minute of it.

Terrible customer service

  • Summary: They outsource their customer service to India. The computer started to have issues with the cooling system while under warranty. I called and was told they would help me back up some expensive software I had on the computer. They never said they would charge me for help backing up the computer before sending it in. Luckily, I asked if there would be a charge and they finally admitted there would be.
