Summary: Decent laptop, I bought for use in my business where I need to sit in front of my computer but when I have meetings I can just flip the lid down. The size is great, especially screen size. It can be very slow, especially in MS Office 2013 programs. I suspect it's the hard drive and am buying a Samsung EVO SSD to replace it, hopefully it speeds it up. I would definitely buy again, especially for the price with the caveat that you have to upgrade the hard drive.
Summary: Took over a day to get all the upgrades done, then it "broke" and I had to re-do. Haven't had any other software problems other than the usual horde of useless pre-installed apps. This not intended to be a business or gaming machine. Video hardware is just adequate. Not rugged or abuse-proof. But a good deal for the average user that does little gaming or only older games.
Pros: Big, bright display. Full keyboard. Lots of RAM. Reasonably fast, especially for the relatively low power it uses.
Cons: 1) Keyboard is unreliable. It doesn't always register a keypress, even if it clicks. Sometimes enters key twice for one press. This is minus 1 or 2 stars by itself. 2) Case seems somewhat fragile. 3) Glossy screen shows reflections of any bright areas behind you.
Updated fix. How?(Dangerous shutdown procedure when you close the lid)

Summary: As this is an updated review-this problem has since disappeared. Not encountered again. Not knowing for sure, I think this happened in an update from Toshiba. One of the things I left on is update from/through Toshiba. Seems about once a week when shutting down-I just shut down and close the lid and let it go through its process(and when turning on to let it install updates) I think this is how this problem got fixed.
Summary: The laptop has an overall cheaper feel and look than I expected. I knew it would be light-weight but if feels so thin and "hollow" and cheap it's surprising. It also tells you in the paperwork that comes with it that the arm rest and bottom get hot and that they could burn you they get so hot. Why's that? Seems like an issue to me. Maybe they should change things? Also, I hate the Windows 8 feature where everything is on the main screen.
Summary: Picture ok, but not really all that good . Sound is somewhat tinny. Of course, at this price you get what you pay for, a modest price for a mediocre product. On the other hand, my wife got an HP for a few dollars more but with much better picture quality and a larger screen.
Summary: I was disappointed that this laptop was not noticeably faster on Minecraft than my five year old AMD laptop. After trying an A10-7300 machine with the same results, I tried an Intel i5-4210U with 4400 graphics which was much faster. I have repeatedly read that AMD should be faster than Intel with games, but that has not been my experience with Minecraft. I knew I was buying a non-touchscreen laptop, but I did not realize how frustrated I would be with Windows 8.1.
Summary: I had a desktop with Windows 7 prior to this laptop. This laptop is sluggish at times, DOES NOT PLAY VIDEO (have to select GPU rendering every time and restart to view ). The mouse pad is kinda lame too - bought a wireless mouse and that fixed that issue. screen is nice, once internet is loaded there is little issue when browsing.
