Summary: The problem is the BIOS version 1.1 which is this laptop's does boot only in UEFI mode which is locked by company. To solve this problem one need to update BIOS which is simple if you have iso image file. simply burn it on a dvd and boot with that dvd you will gett command prompt, there you type 'flash'. it upgrades BIOS and reboot your laptop. go to system configeration in advanced tab in bios mode and change boot mode to CSM from UEFI. thats all..
Summary: Dont like windows 8, so not the best laptop I have used. I thought i was getting dyslexia, however the keyboard is just not sensitive enough, therefore you need to give the keyboard a good bashing to write a letter. Great specification for the money, however, go for the 500gb version as its a lot faster! Quick delivery.
Summary: I bought this from [removed by moderator] expecting a laptop, so when we could not open the DVD drive, it was a shock. I phoned Toshiba, who instantly told me that it is not a laptop, but a notebook. [removed by moderator] do tell you that it has no optical drive, but only in the Tec Spec. However I was easily able to buy a USB external drive for just a few pounds.
Summary: This is the third Toshiba laptop I have bought - and it's the tackiest. The first had excellent build quality and is still going strong after many years - although clearly outdated in terms of processor spec. The second was clearly "cost reduced" in terms of build quality. This one is so flimsy that I don't expect it to last very long, frankly, before something breaks. Sort yourselve's out, Toshiba, or I won't be buying a fourth.
