Toshiba - beware of upgraded batteries

  • Excerpt: One of the first things that happened with this laptop was that the entire right side panel with connections got knocked out of line, and I haven't been able to use the connections on that side. I'm someone that's had laptops for a decade without a problem like that happening. The more annoying thing though was that I bought it with an upgraded battery and the best buy warranty.

  • Excerpt: We had practically no volume on this laptop. Took back toBest Buy, hjey tried to fix and also call Toshiba, but volume could not be fixed. Returned laptop for refund and bought HP instead. Toshiba is aware of this problem and they have a patch, but did not work on this laptop.

  • Excerpt: I have had this laptop for about a couple of years. i can only say that despite the 4gb of ram it isnt enough. i am a crazy multiasker. i will watch a video while using microsoft word, and using AIM. needless to say the computer struggles to get it done. not that the computer lags but the computer gets really really hot. i mean like my hands cannot touch the touchpad and i have had to buy a mouse to replace it. it almost cooks my fingers.

I would not buy a Toshiba A505...

  • Excerpt: Ok first of all, for this price range the CPU should be an i7 or at least i5. I have never seen a laptop with an i3 CPU that is over $900. Even though 4GB of RAM is a really good news (You will need a lot of that to "keep up" with the CPU). The 500GB of hard drive is also good and roomy. But in this age, 500GB can still fill up really fast. And for $900, I would expect at least a 7200 rpm (that's revolutions per minute if you dont know already) The faster, well..
