Excerpt: Although this computer has plenty of space (4GB & 500GB) it lacks in many other areas. First off, the laptop that I bought came with Windows 7 64bit and that messed up the laptop from the start. It constantly goes into bluescreen, freezes, shuts down on its own, and a error message saing "NVIDIA Kernel Mode Driver Version 197.16 has failed and restarted.
Summary: I've had this computer for just over a year and a half now and already I'm looking for a replacement. Initially it worked fine, but a few months later I was receiving the blue screen of death approximately once a week. Then it decided it didn't want to go into sleep mode or hibernate anymore: whenever you tried to put it in one of those modes it decided it wanted to shut down instead without saving anything of yours(??).
Summary: I purchased this laptop at Best Buy here in Baton Rouge, LA in 2009. After my warranty expired last year in 2010 I've had serious problems with this product. I've replaced the hard drive twice and now my motherboard is crashed. Toshiba has been of no help and blatantly insensitive. I'm extremely dissappointed as I purchased this product at a recommendation of Consumer Report Best Buy.
Summary: I don't know why anyone has not mentioned it, perhaps these users didnt follow up or only use this machine for surfing, but it gradually (in less than 2 years) disintegrates and shuts down when you use heavy applications such as editing videos in movie maker or playing games. I have no idea whats up with this thing but i am sick of it, not looking back once i replace it. Don't believe me? Google it.
BEWARE! USB ports broken after 6 months and not covered. NOT WORTH IT!

Summary: I bought this notebook on Oct 22nd, 2009. Last night I found out that the USB slots on the the notebook cannot be used anymore. That's only about 6 months since I purchased the item. The slots was pushed back in. The weird thing is that ALL of them (3) got pushed back at the same time. There's no way I can make backups now since I have no access to the notebook. I never dropped the notebook, it was VERY well taken care of.
Summary: ""We purchased a Toshiba laptop for our daughter a year and a half ago! After 6 months the hard drive crashed and after MANY calls, all of which I had to initiate they never called back when they said they would, they finally replaced the hard drive. They made NO EFFORT to save any of the data on the broken hard drive. Guess what? After 11 months the hard drive crashed AGAIN!

Summary: I bought my Toshiba in August of 2009. It is actually an A505-S6966. Everything was fine until a coouple of days ago when I turned it on and nothing but vertical lines appeared on the screen. I went to their website and called the number they gave to find out that it might cost between $175-$425 to fix the LCD screen problem that I apparently have.
Summary: This is my 3rd Toshiba laptop. They've always been highly reliable, and Consumer Reports' reader surveys confirm that Toshiba laptops are the most reliable computers you can buy. Only my hard drive failed after 2 1/2 months and no strenuous travel. Mainly it just sits in my living room.
Summary: Within 2 months of using this laptop the wireless internet does not work properly and the E drive only accepts DVDs/CD's when it wants to. Now the USB connections are loose and does not connect. Toshiba tech support is not much help and the only way I can get repairs done is by shipping it to the South (live in CA). Think twice before ordering a Toshiba.
