Summary: Overall the computer works as advertised. I went with one with lesser memory (4 GB) due to Toshiba's unreasonably high price for memory upgrades at the time of purchase and did not get the SSD (thus mine is slower to boot but I am not including that factor in my review). Like many others I dislike Windows 8/8.1 but that dislike is not a part of my rating. The computer: Lots to like about it. It is crisp, clean and solid feeling.
Summary: Ok, people i will try to save you some time and headache that i just went through with HP. Needless to say now i am with This premium Toshiba machine and i am very happy. It is worth every dollar. Solid build. Good looking. Amazing keayboard. Amazing performance. If you are in a need for desktop/laptop/gaming laptop/ good reliable machine that is build to last and feels good to use. This is it!
Summary: Delivered without any working sound. Checking online to solve the problem, obviously a very common problem. Could not be fixed. After a week the hard drive broke and I had to return the computer Transformer a giant and the power cord is easily falling out from the computer. I had to buy a SAMSUNG while they repaired the TOSHIBA computer.
Summary: I bought this computer and only had it for about 2 months and the motherboard broke from overheating. I called tech support for Toshiba and they told me to call Trisec Computer Services. I called Trisec Computer Services and they actually told me that these computers are awful because they will overheat and break all the time.
Summary: This was a purchased as a replacement for a five-year-old Toshiba Qosmio X505 on which the graphics card is going bad. Although the Qosmio is marketed as a "Gaming Laptop", I use the high performance for work and it doesn't disappoint me. The four stars (not five) is the result of the fact that I find I really have to POUND the keys on the keyboard or the characters don't show. This wasn't the case with it's predecessor . . . Toshiba, ANY THOUGHTS?
Great laptop, passes as a business unit with the added style and performance of a gamer.

Summary: The SSD is a must, I'll never buy another laptop without this. Superfast start up and shut down alone is almost worth the money. Most of the time I use the laptop for normal day to day working so the extra performance takes the stress out of waiting for things to happen. Great screen clarity and definition along with keyboard functionality confirms this as the best laptop I've ever had for daily use.
A reasonable attempt from a leading maker; an excellent all-rounder and an able gamer

Summary: Toshiba previously had four distinct laptop ranges, excluding the more recent Portegés; Satellite for the everyday market, Satellite Pro and Tecra for the professional or technical users and the Qosmio designed and featured for the executive market and which was priced to match. With a Qosmio you may have had metal or reinforced casings for the base and lid with metal hinges, enhanced design and keyboard, and a higher build quality.
