Summary: This is amazing laptop, very light and very nice, the keyboard is not very good, the screen is better than other ultrabook, you should buy 8GB model, 4GB model is slow with me, anyway I love it very much.
Summary: It was a choice between a high spec 13" macbook and one of these, and I finally decided to go for the Sony when I found a great deal on the i7 / 8GB / 256GB version including the power media dock. The machine is fantastically thin and light - it really is "proper" computer performance in something that everyone assumes must be a netbook running an ultra low voltage low power processor.
Summary: Bought the top of the range Z series (i7) in December 2011 and initial impressions were very good - Small, lighweight and quick. Some of the other reviewers have picked up on the drawbacks; mainly the awful speakers for a laptop in this price range (not usuable for Skype) and a very small screen size to be running full HD resolution.
Summary: Laptop is very portable and fast, does everything I want it to do but the speakers are TRULY DIABOLICAL. Quality of music, or sound accompanying iplayer, is like the very worst of 1960s cheap trannies (and believe me I was there). How Sony could have installed these things is beyond belief. Spoils what would otherwise have been a 5 star rating.
Summary: I love this laptop, at first was sceptical about losing the internal discrete graphics card, but I can live with the Power Media Dock. There's no other laptop out there that's as slim AND fast, and plays ALL recent games. First reviewer criticised the trackpad, these problems were probably only due to software. It's been fixed: trackpad is responsive and reliable, if small. It will never be a Mac trackpad, but then, which Windows laptop can boast that?
Summary: I have owned my Z series for about a fortnight now and it's great: small, VERY light and clearly built using some decent materials; there's no feeling of flimsiness here. Being that I'm not much of a Windows fan, I installed a Linux OS on mine and am extremely impressed by the speed. Boot time is under 20 seconds and programs open almost instantly - the SSD is rapid.
Summary: Excellent machine, that works perfectly in all conditions. Quick processing of "heavy"files, works easily with data analysing software with files of more that 2 million records. Excellent screen, very low weight. Only drawback that has been somehow annoying is the small life battery.
Summary: This laptop is possibly one of the best choices around. I got it as a work tool but it has been intensively used for all sort of functions, from long hours of work, to photo manipulation with memory consuming softwares, to viewing movies with great quality in one of the most amazing screens I have seen in a laptop .
Pros: long battery life, excellent keyboard, good touchpad
