Great for the price

Summary: I got this laptop last year during black Friday. I was in need of a new laptop and this just jumped out at me. I decided to take the plunge and go for the $100 extra option. It gave me one more Gigabyte of Ram(4 in total), a Blu-Ray Drive, a laptop bag, The Karate Kid (Blu-Ray), and some Anti-Virus Software (I didn't care about this since it seemed that they just got old software out of a box and gave it away and free virus protection that is better can be found online).
Great build quality, beautiful design and works perfect for a student

Summary: This computer is a bit on the heavy side especially when needing to carry along to study groups. All in all the computer works great for basic student needs (essays, research, excel). I use it everyday and it hasnt crashed or gave me any issues whatsoever along with webroot security essentials. Sitting in a library studying next to many mac users doesnt make me feel out of place with an equally elegant designed sony vaio either.
Summary: I had this laptop 2 weeks and the hard drive crashed (like 3 weeks before I deployed). I called sony and they said they would send me a replacement harddrive in a week but i never recieved it, I gave it to my brother to see if he could get sony to fix it because im deployed right now and its pretty hard to get anything done from over here. If I had knew I could return it to amazon within a month I would've surely done that instead of go through sony.
Summary: I am posting this review on amazon even though there is a page on the Sony Style website to review your new Sony equipment. But I ordered a Sony VAIO 15.5" series EB laptop online at a sale price and have just seen that the price has been further reduced. I feel like a real chump. The special color I paid $50 for is now free.
Summary: Actually, I rarely type reviews, but I have to do so in this case. Due to the rather few number of reviews online (and many of them negative), I just wanted to clear things up so buyers like me can decide whether or not to buy it. (I had to go through hundreds of websites before I finally decided to buy the laptop, a week ago) BUILD QUALITY AND DESIGN: Excellent, excellent, excellent.
Summary: Hard drive crashed in under a year.... they want to charge me $67 for a "recovery disk" to re-install windows 7 i.e. for the software to recover the defective machine which I already own a license for. They can only ship it in 7-14 business days and want to charge $9 for shipping!!
Summary: This is my first VAIO, after owning a 18.4" ACER with Blu-ray (2008 model). Sony computers are always more expensive than the competition, but at $599 for a 15.6" and i3-380M, wireless connection, dual-layer drive, and HDMI, this was a good deal. The graphic card is very basic and integrated, but the laptop performs beautifully for everyday tasks (Microsoft Office 2010, DVD/CD copy) and Internet browsing, as well as for video streaming (Netflix) and DVD watching.
