Fragile and noisy.
Sin Jeong-hun, Amazon

Summary: I bought a second-handed one from eBay. I got it yesterday and it is quite worse than I expected. 1. Speakers (0 star out of 10) This is the WORST speakers I have ever seen. WORST among all 4 laptops I have or had, worse than my Galaxy Tab 10.1 or iPad 3. Even worse than my cellphone, Galaxy Nexus. Not only the sound is small and week, the sound seems to break (I cannot find a suitable word for this).
AWFUL! Cheap Plastic! Bad Fan Location! Fan Noise!
Neil S. Majd "Neil", Amazon
20 July 2012
Summary: I was really excited about this laptop until it I saw it and used it. The huge cosmetic surprise was that this laptop is essentially ALL PLASTIC. Some reviewer said it is aluminum which is totally wrong. Every major external part is made of plastic (like many laptops). The biggest functional flaw is by far the FAN PLACEMENT. It is located on the BACK of the laptop. Normally this isn't a bad thing, except on this laptop, when you open the lid/screen, IT BLOCKS THE FAN.
Summary: I purchased this laptop via Amazon Warehouse. Amazon listed it as "used/like new". When I received the laptop, it was used however it had refurbished stickers on the bottom panel and the box. Amazon misrepresented the item as being used instead of refurbished. The concern with this is that being refurbished, it hurts resale value and does not have the OEM warranty. As for the condition of the laptop, it was actually in very good condition. There was no damage or wear.
Summary: At first, I really liked this laptop. It has sleek designs, and everything else seemed to be working fine. But after having this laptop for few months, I find that the fan will randomly start overheating and getting super loud!! I'm not doing anything that should take much power, it would just kick on while I'm on the internet (e.g. youtube, doing hw). It's annoying! And even though I tried to reboot it, the fan will continue.
Summary: I write this only to prevent someone from being as naive as I. I actually believed the hype concerning Sony products. When I paid more for the same specifications in a Sony as a less expensive alternate brand, I really believed I would get more from the Sony. It just isn't true. Unless you can speak Chinese or Indian, understand techs who can NOT speak English. Also the laptop just isn't any more reliable than my other laptop which cost me much less.
Summary: I purchased this product due to Vaio reputation, I received the product and on initial boot up I noticed across the lower edge of the display LED backlight shining through, also light areas throughout the display, after that I noticed the speakers have a transistor radio like sound (tinny, treble) and there are no settings to change this, the F7 key was also crooked. So I contacted Sony to get an RMA for replacement and!
nice design but very loud fan and overheating issues
15 November 2011
Summary: I have owned several VAIOs and were always happy with Sony's products... until now. I bought the VAIO SE about a month ago for its slick design and lightweight, but immediately noticed the very loud ventilation fan. It kicks as soon as you launch a heavy application (such as Photoshop, or any modern game) and makes pretty much the same noise as a small vacuum cleaner. This makes it really uncomfortable after a few minutes. It becomes actually painful after one hour.
