Sony VAIO P - VGN-P15G/R

Rony, REVIEW STREAM
22 March 2014
  • Excerpt: Advertisements are a definite cause for buying a product. When I was surfing television I watched advertising Sony Viao P. The Advertisement does influence me. I go to the nearest Viao retailer and booked for one. After a week I got the greatest portable laptop I ever seen. Do not mimic as advertisement shows, sometimes the laptop will fall from your back pocket. I got Viao P, charger, port extension and earphones with the bundle.

Sony Vaio P Series

ibizaspain, REVIEW STREAM

  • Excerpt: Although I am in love with Macbook, I decided to purchase another laptop because I wanted something small when I have emergency travels. It is nice to grab something with you palm and head out to wherever you will go. Macbooks are bulky especially if you are using Macbook Pro. There are other brands which also have very miniature laptops but I trusted Sony more. The smallest is Vaio P Series . It is like a pocket gadget.

Gorgeous, sexy, small but powerful

Smye, Amazon

  • Summary: The previous reviews were more negative about Windows 8 than the laptop, so I bought it after advice from techy colleagues at work. It is great, fits in my handbag and is not very heavy. The screen is visually good, touch screen so - so; not really used to using yet but is useful sometimes on the internet as the pages freeze and using the screen is better. The internet dropped out completely and I couldn't even hard wire in with the USB / ethernet adaptor??

Almost great... but ultimately frustrating!

Masterkipper, Amazon

  • Summary: First off, I agree with the previous reviewer that the Windows 8 touchscreen functionality isn't great. My real problem though was a dodgy WiFi connection. When I Googled, I found that 100s of other people had suffered the same problem with Vaio Pro laptops and that there is no real solution. The laptop went off to Sony for a few days, and was returned saying there was nothing wrong with it and that they were unaware of any issue.

Windows 8 largely ruins an otherwise great laptop

Paul Richard Keeble "Professional Software De..., Amazon
8 September 2013
  • Summary: The laptop runs reasonably quickly has a decent screen and all in all its a decent piece of hardware. The main problem is Windows 8. The touchscreen would seem to be Windows 8 saviour but in practice it doesn't really work all that well. The touchscreen seems to work great but Windows 8 isn't the right operating system to be using it with unfortunately.

  • Summary: This is a netbook with a lot of bad press. Sony charged too much for it and Vista rendered it unusuable, literally. However, both these problems have been alleviated of late, which is why I bought one. The price has fallen, plus there's £150 cashback at the moment, plus a free Windows 7 uprgrade, and if you can;t stand Vista in the meantime you can now easily downgrade to XP, as I did the moment I got hold of my Vaio P.
  • Pros: Small, light, super screen and keyboard, no noisy fan, doesn't get hot
  • Cons: Comes with useless Vista and Sony bloat, weak performance of GMA500 chipset

Overall this is a good netbook, however it is not worth the price they are asking for.

  • Excerpt: This Sony Vaio is a...Pretty piece of equipment. It is designed to look good, I remember the first time I saw it I thought Wow, if it works as well as it looks its worth the price tag. I'm sad to say that it doesn't and it certainly wasn't worth the £999 it cost at the time, it still isn't worth the £793 that is displayed as the best price that dooyoo can find.
