Fast, unstable hardware which completely ceases to function the moment the warranty expires

Summary: Blue screens often, touch screen randomly stops responding or erratically clicking/dragging all over regardless of operating system. UEFI makes dual-booting Windows and Linux nearly, if not completely impossible.
Warning Sony some horrible design features a NO REPEAT NO Sony backup. Best Buy is just as bad.

Summary: I've waited 11 months to write this review. In general this little laptop is useful and nice looking. Having 4 USB ports, an optical drive, touch screen, HDMI, and serial port is wonderful too. OK now, the hard drive began to fail in less than a month and was fixed under warranty. The screen side of the device (top) is connected with two plastic hinges both of which have failed. Best Buy tells me that even though the unit is under warranty the hinges are not covered.
Summary: I purchased this computer on 10/1/12 and it was one of the more expensive mistakes I've made. I have gone through 3 hard drives in 1 year and both of my previous laptops lasted me between 6-8 years each so to have one fail after barely a year is a disappointment to say the least. I have other Sony products I love but I will never buy another Sony laptop after this.
Great computer, if you downgrade, five stars after downgrade

Summary: I bought this for work only, I could care less for live tiles, Facebook, or anything else Metro related. I have had this laptop for six months for work. For a laptop, it has all the power, decent sound, and great hard drive space. Plus a very nice screen. Also the sound from the usb to my board is incredible. It's really noticeable, and does sound excellent. With Windows 8, and work related use, I have had daily crashes. It's buggy for audio.
Summary: I bought this vaio brand last year and after 4 mths, I got the fan noise problem. It is really heavy noise that it irritates me alot. I am a computer science student who chose Vaio over Mac and I have alot of Sony products with me. But this one is a disaster. I even took the laptop to a Sony tech to have the fan changed, but it did not solve the noise and overheating problem. very disappointing.
Summary: I normally don't write reviews, but I feel I should share my experience so that others can make better decisions. Perhaps my New Years resolution will be to write more reviews. I bought my Sony off Tiger Direct, and I have left a review there as well. Like other reviewers have noted, the touchpad is a nightmare. I bought this computer for its portability, and needing an external mouse (which this laptop certainly does) defeats the purpose.
Summary: After my Samsung PC of 3 years was zapped to death, I purchased my 2nd Sony Vaio because I have always believed that sony produces great products. I have had this PC for two months so I wasn't expecting to have any issues until after a year. Well, the battery life sucks!! Vaio Care tells me my PC battery is in excellent condition but whenever I unplug it from the AC adapter charge the battery only last an hour or an hour and a half.
