Summary: I have had nothing but problems with this computer from day one. I actually had to return this PC to the store 3 times on the FIRST day because every one that came out of the box was broken in some way - hard drive failures, overheats, and one that wouldn't boot up at all. Finally on the fourth try, we got one that seemed to be ok. WOW, was that wrong!!!
Summary: It said like new condition, but the condition was so poor (scratches were everywhere) when I got it. After I used it for three month, the window system had just stopped. After ten month used, the screen goes out completely, Now I can't use it anymore (it is pending to the sony service center) I wish I could buy another one!!
Summary: This laptop worked great until yesterday. I was doing my normal email, surfing stuff and it just DIED. BLACK. No lights no nothing. Checked power supply. It was OK. Have to assume dead MB. Reluctant to spend money on diagnosis but if I do, I will report back.
Summary: I am a college student and avid blogger/vlogger and really only needed a computer to do my school work as well as some social networking and occasionally play videos. I had a Dell Inspiron before this that ended up having to replace the motherboard twice so I really just needed a little PC to get the job done and wasn't looking to spend much. I purchased my laptop directly from the Sony website for $400.
Summary: I have had this laptop for less than a year and have had to replace the motherboard, 3 hard drives, and have had a ton of startup and driver issues. From my research all of this seems to be pretty common for these machines. I would not recommend this laptop.
Summary: Sony VAIO E Series SVE17137CXB 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black) sony is a good computer ,but with window 8 ,horreble . i have not used it much accept trying to set it up ,but this is a horreble misguidet deal ,i want my money back . the market seller had about 12 in stock ,i hate it when this happens ,but what is confusing that amazon is also involved .perhaps amazon bouth them .
Summary: Do No Buy this computer. I purchased this computer for my wife and it has been nothing but trouble since the day we got it. It didn't run right when we set it up, then my wife couldn't get the computer to turn on, she called techincal support and after being given the run around they finally said they would send someone out to the house. When he came he said the hard drive was shot, probably from the factory.
Summary: The specs on the website said it had high resolution screen even an HD graphic card. However, that was not the case. The colors were washed out, faded, the screen very dull, and certainly was not HD as advertised. The seller, Hyper Tech were difficult to deal with! When I requested to return the product because of the poor resolution they gave me a very hard time.
Summary: I have to warn and advise, I have always been a fan of Sony equipment, their TV are slightly overpriced as are all their components but for the most part are solid well made and last, their VAIO computers however have been nothing but junk. My wife bought one in 2011 and we had to replace the hard drive last April on it for defective workmanship, so a technician came out and eventually replaced it with a new hard drive.
Summary: I tried 2 of these laptops and returned. The video display flickers constantly and goes blank with Photoshop mostly with the selection tools and crop tool. Impossible to work with. Since I use it primarily for DSLR Raw Pictures, Images and Graphics, it is totally unusable. It doesn't matter how beautiful, how many features or a good price if you can't use it is no good. As I said, I tried 2 not 1.
