Summary: Hi, I just feel shame on those who blame thier particular laptop on manufacturer's design fault. My laptop has been in use for the last 14 months n its perfectly smooth n safe. No dirty noise from fan or anything.. I ve taken normal care of it.. n its having a solid design and built. As regards performance, its the beast in the jungle. windows 7 is runing like a tiger in it. Hihgly recomend to everyone for everydayuse.
Summary: hi, I have purchased a sony vaio cs black laptop in jan 2009. it started making an 'errrrr' noise just after 2 months. It is really irritating and is a nuisance to your concentration. i bought this for 750£ !!! for the specification it had. But to be frank it is really very badly made product from Sony. So my humble request to all who are looking upto this model plz avoid this series or for that matter Sony laptops.
I'm so stupid. Buy without suspicion. I am the next victim

Summary: I have the CS21S/Q last month, and start annoying about the fan' noise at first using. It comes with 1 year warranty from Sony, but I don't think it can help. I come to this review when looking for a replace fan. But now I don't think it can help, because of others' experience, it will happen again. I am not professional of laptop, but I think it is unacceptable. At the first use, there was a noise of SCRATCHING. Then it became LOUDER. So scared.
Summary: I bought this laptop because it looks so nice, but I should have done more research. Mine doesn't have a noisy fan, I think it's ok, but the laptop itself is pretty useless. I turn it on sometimes and it opens up with a windows 98 format and crashes (!?) - although on restart its usually ok. once i turned it on and it did not recognise me when i am the only user of it!
Do NOT buy -- fan problem that Sony won't acknowledge

Summary: The title says it all. I bought one last December and the fan behaviour is, to say the least, poorly managed. The ever increasing noise levels recently, though, have to be heard to be believed. Only now am I finding that the web is littered with other VAIO CS owners complaing of the same problems with the fans in their PCs and the same lack of action from Sony.
Summary: I will accept that the fan can be annoying. It comes on about every 15-20 seconds for about 3 seconds then goes off again, however you do not notice it at all when you're listening to music or the radio, playing a game, or even just in a room that isn't totally silent! It certainly isn't that loud, especially if you compare it to having an xbox or a desktop running, which constantly has a loud fan going.
Summary: I have had nothing but problems with sony laptops. I said I would never buy another one, unfortunately I did and now I am stuck with a piece of junk with an extremely noisy whirring fan. After doing research on the net I have found that this is a sony design fault. Do not buy!
Summary: This isn't really a full review but just a word of caution. I returned the one I received because the CD drawer did not close properly: when the drawer was fully home the outside of it did not sit flush with the laptop casing, one side of it stuck out as though it was too big for the housing. This meant there was a significant protrusion from the end of the laptop which could have been knocked or caught on things and perhaps broken the CD drawer somehow.
Summary: if you are thinking of buying this laptop please think again, the fan is so noisy and annoying it is untrue. it comes on every few seconds or so then goes off with an annoying krrr sound, i have had this laptop for a month and its been back twice to sony so they have had it for 2 of these weeks.
