Summary: I can't write personally about this computer as I purchased it for my fiance but, I will say that she hasn't ever said a bad thing about it. A lot of her coworkers have more expensive laptops and they told her that they want hers. The lit keys are really helpful when she's on at night. She wasn't crazy about the layout of the new windows but she's gotten used to it and you can change it back to the classis view.
Summary: I gave it one star because its a Sony, that's it. I had high hopes but windows 8 sucks, the mouse sucks, the computer shell sucks because all you see is finger/oil marks. I feel like it was made half-ass I really loved there previous laptops.
Summary: Honestly it is hard to be unbiased when reviewing because of windows 8. I find it slower and clunkier than windows 7. I can not tell if the slow processing time is from windows 8 or the laptop. take it for what its worth though, The internet and reaction times in pulling up both internet and desktop windows seem slower than my three year old dell that had less RAM and processing speed. It is sleek looking and I like the feel of the keyboard.
Summary: Again, very pleased with a Sony product. The keyboard is back-lit. Great design. Great color. I do recommend adding a wireless mouse for more comfort. Totally seamless. My only problem was the original mouse was over sensitive and I did not know how to close applications on the new Windows 8 software. To close apps in Win 8 do an ALT+F4 by the way. I was opening apps unintentionally. The wireless mouse fixed that problem.
Summary: This is an affordable substitute for the portability and user friendly design of macbooks. My only concern is the touchpad which I have found to be a source of much aggravation and frustration. This problem is easily overcome with the purchase of a small wireless mouse that can hide easily in my bag. I constantly brag about the money I saved and the hardware which is perfect for run of the mill everyday use.
Summary: It's a great computer...my son loves it! The only complaint is the fact that the purchaser is forced to use Windows 8, an operating system that was designed for touch screen technology. Because this laptop is not touch screen capable, Windows 8 is more of a burden than a benefit.
VAIOs are great, until they aren't. Then they are very bad.

Summary: If your wireless drivers mysteriously break and are unfixable, as mine was, and you have to re-install Windows, you are in for a world of pain. Sony's site has drivers that will literally make your computer inoperable. I am on my third re-install now, first I downloaded a rootkit from Sony's site, then a battery program bundled with the VAIO control center hosed me. I will never buy a VAIO again.
