Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T

MobileTechReview.com
10 October 2013
  • Conclusion: The Samsung ATIV 500T is in a difficult position. On the one hand, it's more versatile than Windows RT, Android and iOS tablets, but it's also considerably less powerful than most notebooks and convertibles on the market running more capable AMD and Intel Core i5 CPUs. Unlike today's handful of convertibles and Core i5 Windows 8 tablets, it's not brainy enough to be your only computer since it offers a brighter than average netbook-like experience.
  • Pros: Good battery life, bright and colorful touchscreen, has a digital Wacom pen, relatively light, can run X86 Windows 7 apps.
  • Cons: A bit slow, especially given the price bracket. Keyboard dock connection flaky.

Review: Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T

Pocketables

  • Summary: From a pure tablet perspective, the Samsung ATIV Smart PC is an excellent device. It’s not the most high-powered tablet on the market – for that, you’ll likely want to go with the Microsoft Surface Pro - but it carefully balances the best aspects of tablets and laptops. While I prefer the build of the Surface, the ATIV still looks and feels great.

  • Excerpt: When they're sitting next to each other you can clearly see that they're related, the brightly-coloured Ativ Smart PC and the black business Ativ Smart PC Pro. This is Samsung's take on the ASUS Transformer concept, a tablet you can attached to a keyboard.

Samsung ATIV Smart PC Review

SlashGear
18 December 2012
  • Conclusion: This machine is a PC without a keyboard attached to it - while we've yet to see the keyboard attached for any long amount of time, we're confident that the full experience will be somewhere between a mobile tablet and a full Ultrabook-type-situation. The userbase for this device specifically will be small - we're not quite sure that $700 USD or more on-contract or off will be worth the amount you're dropping when you've got alternatives like the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1...

Samsung ATIV Smart PC review

Techworld
11 December 2012
  • Summary: In the end, the Samsung ATIV Smart PC suffers from an inability to make up its mind what it should be. The size makes it awkward as a tablet and the performance means its too sluggish to be a full performance laptop. That lack of a strong identity may limit its appeal to users in either the tablet or lightweight laptop camp.
