Nice computer for grad school, does what I need it to.
5 May 2014
Summary: I got this for grad school (did a masters in engineering) and this served me well. The 6gb of RAM can run several programs simultaneously and the i3 processor seems to do a fine job as well. Other features I like about it include the island keyboard, sd card reader, and HDMI port. Overall I think this makes a great computer for most users.
Cons: the wireless won't work. I bought a 1 year warrenty just in case something went wrong with a refurbished unit. That should be able to cover a replacement item barely a month into ownership. Someone please help me on this? How can a 1 year warrenty not apply, 1 month in?
Summary: Its worth 300$. I got it second hand,2011 model. Its working perfect. I had some minor issues like ' key not working at once but after reformatting, it was all perfect. I am an engineer and its great with 6GB DDR3 RAM, lots of multitasking possible. Awesome screen and never have hanged since I got it past 2 months.
Pros: Great screen, doesn't get overheated, decent battery life and it's not very heavy but doesn't feel like it could break at any second. I've recommended it to everyone I know shopping for a laptop. This price was good, too - thanks, newegg.
Cons: None so far even though it's a refurb. I bought a year warranty just in case though.
Excerpt: Samsung RC512 15inch Laptop with i5, 4gb DDR3, intel HD True life graphic, 500gb WOW! one word for this laptop . WHY, you ask? Well the price, the design and the product overall is par with any high-end laptop for double the price. Couple of things that I love about the laptop is the Island type Keyboard. The letters are spread apart and is very comfortable to type with.
Summary: There's something just a bit hinky with this computer. Not sure exactly what it is yet. I'm not sure if it's the hard drive or what, but somethings take a really long time to load, sometimes and not others. Other times some of the programs crash on start up. It in general just acts like a much slower computer than it should be, but it only does this every once in a while. It gets its moods so to speak.
Pros: - 2nd Gen Intel Core i7 for the price of an i3
Cons: - The screen size is only 1366x768. I got it thinking I could live with the lesser resolution, (my old laptop is old, but has a 1600x900 screen) but I find myself really missing that extra bit of resolution, it really made it more enjoyable.
