Summary: Even though it's not the best laptop on market but i still give it 5 stars compare to the same features (i5 core, etc...) that other brand name products have, this laptop does better! Love the style!
Summary: I purchased both the R780 and R580 because they looked to be a good value and and features. I would rate both very high if it weren't for them both having the same design flaw - the power connector on the motherboard is not properly fortified to be able to take every day use. I blamed my daughter for hers going bad until mine went bad too.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive
Cons: Did not meet expectations, bad motherboard power connector design
Summary: this is my first laptop, and i really love the 17.3" screen! its big enough to where i actually use a wireless mouse on top of the laptop. Its been decent for gaming, although smooth performance on more up to date games require lowest settings. I found out you can upgrade to 8gb ram as well. It has lasted me a good amount of time, and the warranty service is superb for when ive had to send it in!
Summary: This laptop looks stunning. Red gloss finish detailed very nicely. Build quality is excellent. The 17.3" has a very bright screen (1600x900) resolution. Colors look great. I'm not a track pad user so I can't comment on it's use(wireless mouse). It's a bit heavy but I knew that from the start. Real time battery life is terrible! I'm using it in a permanent setup on a desk mainly as a 2nd desktop.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
Summary: Purchased this laptop for my wife because it is a good value compared to similar laptops, and because of the gorgeous and distinctive case. The performance is good, the video is great, and my wife loves it. What more could I ask for...
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, gorgeous case
Summary: I bought this laptop in June 2011, and was initially impressed. But I use the mouse pad on a regular basis, and within a year, it had worn away part of the finish on both pad and bar. It now no longer scrolls or expands the page from the mouse pad. And now, just over two years later, the hard drive has died. I save all of my work to dropbox, because as mentioned in other reviews, to back up your files needs quite a few cds.
Summary: I bought one of these in September 2010, it was a 'Which' best buy. It has performed excellently since then. I hardly ever move it from my home 'office'. Unaccountably it switched off while I was listening to music. I turned on again, continued. A few minutes later it again switched off and would not switch on again. I am advised that the motherboard has failed. New ones, not easy to get, will be £180 - £200+ and there would be another £100 plus to change it.
Summary: This laptop is the best I have ever had. It's sleek, stylish look go well with the feel of the keyboard and the laptop itself. The laptop does have a 'plastic' feel, which surprised me at first. However, after getting used to the feel of it (it was totally different to my last laptop ) I have realized that it is in-fact better this way. The laptop doesn't scratch easily, is smooth and has an intelligent layout.
