Summary: I bought one of these in September 2010, it was a 'Which' best buy. It has performed excellently since then. I hardly ever move it from my home 'office'. Unaccountably it switched off while I was listening to music. I turned on again, continued. A few minutes later it again switched off and would not switch on again. I am advised that the motherboard has failed. New ones, not easy to get, will be £180 - £200+ and there would be another £100 plus to change it.
Summary: This laptop is the best I have ever had. It's sleek, stylish look go well with the feel of the keyboard and the laptop itself. The laptop does have a 'plastic' feel, which surprised me at first. However, after getting used to the feel of it (it was totally different to my last laptop ) I have realized that it is in-fact better this way. The laptop doesn't scratch easily, is smooth and has an intelligent layout.
Summary: The Samsung R780 is a good all-round laptop for either the novice computer user or the more experienced who may want a little more out of their computing experience. The red casing makes it stand out from the crowd and the 17.3" screen size is large and clear. The battery life is good and the sound and screen brightness are easily adjusted.
Summary: Bought as a Xmas present problems from day 1, faulty mouse pad, returned under guarantee to Samsung, replaced Motherboard & top housing. Samsung returned supposedly fixed but this time had faulty wireless adapter. Samsung offshore support team reluctant to arrange a second collection wasted hours on 0845 telephone calls. Eventually Samsung agreed to collect but I had lost patients. The goods were not fit for purpose.
Summary: I bought my R508 ! year ago. it has traveled around Europe with me by car, Motorcycle & flight. it has neither broken or even crashed. except for a windows 7 Glitch when i first bought it. unlike my previous sony Viao, and toshiba sattelite. buy one if you dont need to be to far from a power supply, If you do forget it.
Pros: Brilliant piece of kit, reliable, functional, stylish & fast
Summary: My Verdict I Purchased a Samsung R780 Laptop as Above very true it offers good performance for the price, and both the chassis and display look great. If you can forgive its weak battery life, it'll prove an ace multimedia machine. Very Smooth Machine !!! Runs Well Online !! Great Gift !!
Pros: Very Quite Machine & Runs Very Smoothly, Screen Size is Amazing !!

Pros: ok specs
Cons: flimsy peice of sh*t , will litraly fall to bits for no reson
Summary: The laptop is a good solid product. My only reservations are associated with the keyboard layout. The delete key is very small. The Samsung setup was straight forward and "Windows 7" was installed with very few questions. Samsung have supplied a utility for setting up networks that is very effective. I had everything up and running in a couple of hours. If you come from the Windows XP stable like myself then "Windows 7" takes some getting used to.
Summary: I bought the R580 (smaller version) for my Mum and it has been a perfect purchase as a mid range and affordable system that does everything she could need (she's not much of a gamer) with ease. I reccomend it without hesitation.
