After 14 months of use, the mother board need to be replaced ($750)
7 February 2014
Summary: I am very dissapointed with my purchase. It seems that this is a typical problem for this model. The warrany was only for the first 6 months and therefore I will have to buy a new laptop. This time I will go for Lenovo or Asus. I won't buy anything else from Samsung in my life... Update: after calling the customer service they have offered to repair the laptop for free.
Summary: I did NOT want to get another HP or Toshiba. Both have lasted less than 2 years and there wasn't anything particularly good about them. This laptop with its Intel Core i7 processor is a speed demon. I was reluctant to get a refurbished machine but I love the light-up key board. My Mom was so impressed with it she is going to get one. Do think twice before you get a system with Windows 8; I bought one through Staples and at the 3 1/2 week mark I gave up.
Summary: I've owned this laptop for at least 6 months now... I think it might even be closer to a year. Pros: It's fast, real fast. Lighted keyboard is handy It's like having a macbook pro at 1/4 the price... especially now since the price has dropped. I still feel like this laptop is worth more than they're currently selling for.
Summary: The spacebar constantly got stuck on this unit. I would be taking away with out looking and the when I would glance and the page, I had one extremly long run-on sentence. Stay away. Hopefully newer models have been fixed.
Summary: + latest configuration + cheaper compare to other + fast start up time + decent battery time - at least 4 hours while working + separate number keys are handy + speakers are good - cursor position moves to different location on the screen while typing. It could be because palm area below thumb touches the tracking pad. I would keep the tracking pad a right most side of the laptop, below number keys.
Summary: I've had a lot of Laptops in the past 4 years. (Dell XPS15, Lattitudes, HP's, Compaq's, Etc) NONE OF THEM can compare to the Samsung Series 7. Pros: Quiet, Light weight, sleek, light up keys for the dark, HD screen, lots of customization features, Excellent graphics, 1 TB (Lots of room for videos, pictures, etc) AWESOME battery life. Cons: The charger is on the side ( not a big deal but just uncomfortable sometimes) The mouse pad will take some getting used to.
Summary: It is absolutely awesome. I completely love it. Fast, beautiful, and FAST. What would I change: It has 8GB ram and a chipset that supports 16, but 4GB of the RAM is integrated into the motherboard and not upgradeable. So 12 is the max. Lame. It is a mild pain to swap the hdd, and one I did, it has always been a creaky and loud sounding laptop. The plastic just seems cheap on that bottom plate. Anyway, I would buy it over again in an instant.
Summary: I tend to go through laptops and upgrade technology fairly quickly. This machine is hands down one of the best laptops I've ever had. Its fast, its light for the performance specs, it has a real graphics card that runs Steam games great- even over the HDMI out to a tv without any goofy lag. Backlit keyboard- and did I mention the hyperthreaded 4-core i7 is fast? It will run itself up to 3.2Ghz in high perf power mode under heavy load.
