Samsung ATIV Book 7 review
29 August 2013
Conclusion: At first glance, Samsung’s Ativ Book 7 seems like an Ultrabook that should have been released two years ago. The system is sleek, but materials and build quality don’t back up the premium appearance or $1,060 price tag. A current-generation MacBook Air, Lenovo Yoga 13, or even Acer S7 can put the Book 7’s look and feel to shame, and the first two alternatives can be had at a slightly lower price. The battery provides a chance of redemption.
Pros: Attractive, if somewhat predictable, exterior, Excellent display, Outstanding battery life despite 3rd-gen processor, Light and thin
Cons: Feels cheaper than it is, Lackluster keyboard, Unimpressive performance for the price, Cooling fan is loud at load
Summary: The Samsung ATIV Book 7 is in a weird spot since Haswell-powered ultrabooks will be on the market very soon, which means better performance in both speed and battery life. The ATIV Book 7 performs very well in both categories, but knowing some new ATIV ultrabooks are coming down the pipe in just a few short weeks means you should consider your options.
Samsung Series 7 Ultra is nice, but you may want to wait
13 June 2013
Summary: The shiny Samsung Series 7 Ultra has a long battery life and nice design, but its now-older processor gives us pause.
Pros: The aluminum-bodied Samsung Series 7 Ultra looks and feels great. Excellent battery life; a very nice 1080p touch screen; a comfortable backlit keyboard and a responsive, large clickpad.
Cons: The Series 7 has two USB 2.0 ports but only one USB 3.0, and, as with most ultrabooks, the battery is nonremovable and there is no optical drive. It has an older processor and integrated graphics.
Review Samsung Series 7 Ultra Touch 740U3E-S02DE Ultrabook
17 May 2013
Summary: The more the better! Samsung packs the Series 7 flagship in an aluminum housing and equips it with a powerful Core i7, a dedicated AMD graphics card, a large SSD and a multi-touch Full HD IPS display. A bit over the top?
Pros: Aluminum chassis, Good workmanship, Great FHD IPS panel, Multi-touch display, Very good viewing angles, Cool and quiet under normal usage, A lot of interfaces for an ultrabook, First-class input devices, Very good performance and battery life, Good sound, A powerful subnotebook with high-quality ultrabook design. A great overall package, with which only casual gamers will not get their money's worth.
Cons: No DisplayPort, A bit too loud under load, Accessories. Where are the accessories? A VGA adapter and a microfiber cloth would have been nice in this price range.
