Great laptop for the price. Overlooked by the market.

Summary: This is an excellent laptop that is overengineered for the price. For sub-$1000 it's a great deal. It's heavy, but the 17.3 inch display is nice (matte, so you can use it in the light) and the audio is excellent. Throw an SSD in it, it comes with the cables to do so.
Summary: This laptop is the best I've owned. Never a problem with it, though I admit it was difficult getting used to Windows 8 (but that's Microsoft for you!). I received it as a gift about a year ago, and it's been used daily since then.
Summary: I recently (Dec 2013) purchased a Samsung book 5 NP550p7C 17.3 inch silver laptop directly from Samsung as a back-up PC for work as my old HP desktop was at the end of its life. I chose the Samsung as it was one of the few laptops with a matte screen.
Summary: Wow. It's a finely tuned state of the art PC. I like it even better after wiping Windows 8 off of it and installing Windows 7. Now I have a flash drive with all the Windows 7 drivers for the NP550P7C on it, and my own copy of Windows 7, and I can wipe the whole thing and start over whenever I want.
Summary: I have had so much fun with my new laptop! Windows 8 required some learning, but the Samsung is swift, has great video, and I love the large screen. I read that it heats up a lot, but I haven't experienced that. I do wish the battery lasted longer though.
Summary: You can't hear the fan running even when it's on full blast. It doesn't get too hot on your lap. It's super fast and the JBL speakers sound great. The only reason this got 4 stars is because Windows 8 is really annoying.
