Summary: I purchased this laptop more than a year ago -- probably closer to 2 years ago. I still use it at work and sometimes on the weekends. Here are some perspectives which you may not find in other reviews. 1. I like that the screen is matte -- not glossy. You can use it everywhere. 2. This is NOT a thin and light laptop -- it is a full sized, but still reasonably portable. It is about 1.5 inches thick at its thickest. 3. Nice that it has the DVD drive.
Summary: We purchased this laptop from another vendor on June 8, 2013. The hard drive failed on June 15th of 2014. The system began running slow a few weeks after we got it home, we took it to the vendor at which time I voiced my concerns and they 'checked and cleaned up the hard drive.' The computer became slower and slower until it stopped working.
Summary: The hard drive had to be replaced after 2 yrs for $220. Lost some data ( did have some on a flash drive) due to hard drive replacement. Never let me type without cursor jumping all over afterward though. Very annoying. Now the battery died and it won't let you view it with only the power cord. Desktops r better or maybe a different brand.
Summary: I've had this laptop for approximately 2.5 years. It was a quick and cheap replacement to a MacBook I spilled coffee on. While this is no way shape form etc. a MacBook (which I miss dearly), for what I paid its pretty decent. For 2 years it was a heavily used Laptop for University (think 5+hours per day) as well as leisure.
Summary: I use this laptop for school purposes and also for gaming. It probably couldn't run Crysis 3 on even low settings, but for less demanding games and such it does great. I've played Amnesia and Portal 2 on this, and it looked fine. The laptop is also pretty quiet (as in the fan isn't that loud). There weren't any major problems with performance in that area. The main problem with this laptop (and the reason why I gave it a lower review) is because of it's build quality.
Summary: I've owned this laptop for 1 1/2 years now. Now, the keyboard keys have worn to the point where they do not work correctly. The keys have "loosened up" so that you get 2 letters showing when you press the key only once! So I'm having to constantly retype my work which is a pain as I do quite a bit of work on the computer. This has gotten to be so annoying that I've decided to buy another laptop soon and it won't be a Samsung!
Summary: I bought this just over a year ago and it is still working well. I am writing this mainly to address the complaints about the touchpad. I agree that it jumps around unpredictably. However, if you press [function key]+[F5] you can turn the touchpad off. Most laptops have this option--and many have oversensitive touchpads--but the key number varies by manufacturer.
