Excerpt: The MSI Wind U100 came into existence last year as part of the netbook craze. With many other alternatives out there, just how does the Wind stack up? The basics: MSI Wind U100 10″ 1024×600 widscreen LED panel 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU(800MHz-1.98GHz) 120GB(160GB on newer) Hard Drive 1GB DDR2 RAM(upgradeable to 2GB) The CPU on the …
Summary: Just to add one more note to all these glowing reviews - this is the first computer I've had that I could comfortably work while lying down on the couch.
Only complaint is that the documentation is mostly missing, even for initial start-up.
Summary: After spending weeks researching netbooks I decided on the MSI Wind. It is everything I hoped it would be. Small, but very viewable. The keyboard does take some getting used to but for a netbook I have no problem with it. The 6 cell battery is awesome. I can easily get 5 hours without using the power saving mode. I use the netbook at work, in the carpool, and traveling and it is perfect!
Summary: This had been a perfect and lovely machine has good size, weight, long time battery and so on until last weekend when I found the bluetooth not working.
According to the manual, the blue LED showing bluetooth activity should be turnned on if I pressed Fn+F11 keys. But it didn't. When I ran the bluetooth control program, it just kept saying that try again after turning on bluetooth device even though the device was shown working properly in control pannel.
Summary: Notice the number of reviewers who mention 2-3 other net books they've owned. Makes you wonder how much real work they're getting done with the machines, which are still somewhat of a novelty item, subject to radical changes every other month.
All the more reason to stay within the $400 range.
Summary: It was everything that most of the reviews said it was. Great display, great keyboard, nicely built.. BUT...
1. The company substituted a new touchpad for the one that they shipped to reviewers. With the new touchpad, you can not disable touch to click. Big problem (unless you don't mind surprise inserts, deletes, selects and programs running when you least expect them to).
Summary: MSI has made the best Netbook so far. The build quality is nice and the keyboard layout is comfortable. It was a good choice to go with a 10 inch screen model.
I have bought two of these so far. An all black model, that I upgraded the HDD to 250GB and 2Gb of Ram. I dual boot Win XP and Mac with it and works great.
This Love Edition model I bought for a friend who's in school. She's the envy of her classmates.
