Two years - So disappointed

Michael T., Newegg
26 July 2015
  • Summary: I had this laptop for two years and I loved it, but the charging port when bad. Started smoking and sparking and could have caught my house on fire if I didn't notice it. No warranty, costs a lot to get it fixed, and I feel ripped off. $1,700.00 down the drain. Thanks MSI.
  • Pros: Fast, big, handles everything you throw at it.
  • Cons: Lasted just outside the warranty, expensive to repair.

Falling apart slowly

Christine C., Newegg
1 September 2013
  • Summary: The back-lit keyboard is nice, but I got this b/c it's supposed to be a big powerful laptop. It shouldn't be crapping out so soon.
  • Pros: Great computer when it works. But my fiance's started dying after about 6 months and mine is in the first death throws. We take it to places that are supposed to be able to fix laptops and they don't thing anything wrong.
  • Cons: The first sign of trouble is that the speaker stop working. Then they get really, really slow. Then the freeze a lot. Can't connect to the internet, and crash over and over and over. The eject button has NEVER worked. We take it in to get it looked at and of course then it works fine. I bought th...

Don't be duped like me

George K., Newegg
14 October 2012
  • Summary: I spent $1,700 on this laptop about a year ago. It mostly sat on my shelf for the first 6 months until Diablo III came out. I'll be generous and say I logged between 48-72 hours on the machine before one night I put it to sleep.
  • Pros: I imagine if you had one that worked you'd be pleased with most of it
  • Cons: Heavy and unreliable. See below

Lemon

Christopher G., Newegg
8 October 2012
  • Pros: It's great, when it works. Fast, powerful, huge screen.
  • Cons: I've had this laptop for almost a year and this is the 3rd time I'm going to have to RMA it. The first time was for a hard drive failure, the second because the lid casing cracked, and now again for another hard drive failure. Is their some type of lemon law? 3 strikes and I get a full refund?

Fast and cheap

Adam N., Newegg
24 July 2012
  • Summary: We paid $1899 and unit has three year MSI warranty but MSI wants to charge $120 for the new top lid.
  • Pros: Great speed and plays most games on highest settings with ease.
  • Cons: This units case is very thin plastic and has some problems with the hinges getting too tight and breaking away from the top cover. Also MSI does not want to warranty this. So get the one year warranty from new egg to protect it. After research I found many people with same problem.

Amazing specs but just as many problems

Anonymous, Newegg
15 April 2012
  • Summary: Sorry ran out of room in Cons lol... My BIGGEST complaint about this laptop is the communication with MSi. They literately don't answer a single email or phone calls period. I don't even know what happened to my rebates they so claim to accept online but no answers from a few of my mails (it's been...
  • Pros: -Obviously the specs. -So far with small adjusting I am getting BF3 on Ultra with around 40 FPS, pretty good. -Fast, a little over a minute in boot up -Definitely digging the style of laptop, it's not completely over the top like other gaming laptops. -Some say it's not impressive but I think thi...
  • Cons: -This thing is giving me BSOD after a month of usage, nothing too series but it does happen every once in a while -Can't run certain older games (not a huge issue but hey we all want to throw in something old some times) -GPU starts giving me errors like green dots on my blacks -Touchpad is kinda...

User Review

Anonymous, Newegg
8 April 2012
  • Pros: Great specs for the price. I can play just about anything at max settings
  • Cons: The keyboard sucks for one. But the worst would have to be the many amounts of BSOD I have had since day one. There seems to be some issue somewhere in this machine. I tried reformatting it to factory settings once and it took me about 5 attempts before the OS would install and be usuable.

Awesome if you like the BSOD!

Christopher W., Newegg
25 March 2012
  • Summary: 3GB onboard the 570! i7! 16GB of RAM... demolishes everything I have thrown at it and it does great on HD stuff. Not the best for blacks though, but hey, its a 1080p screen on a laptop.
  • Pros: Awesome power in a laptop... great product!
  • Cons: The LED keyboard now flickers while in RED only mode or BLUE only on the left hand side while in single, double, or triple. And it likes to blow up the bsod and a daily basis. msi forums seem to point to something of this sort so hopefully msi or newegg will be able to help make this a snappy rep...

Bad All Around

David T., Newegg
23 March 2012
  • Summary: Stay away from this machine. Like others giving reviews I had a bad experience with getting a lemon from MSI, got it replaced by Newegg, and after 3 months I've had 3 bluescreens in the past week. This thing has hardware flaws like none other. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid.
  • Pros: High hardware specs - that's what you pay for.
  • Cons: The keyboard is abysmal. It misses keys constantly, has keys in non-standard positions (like the backslash next to the ALT key - WHAT?), and is all around worthless aside from WSAD. The Fn key and common combos are not near each other, so you need to use two hands to do things like raise volume. ...

I loved it when I had it.

William M., Newegg
10 February 2012
  • Summary: If you don't want to spend too much and want to have a great gaming computer, when it works, then buy this. If your comuter is something that you rely on and can't do without, then find some one with better customer service.
  • Pros: I bought this laptop to replace my gaming desktop that I built through newegg.com. I was very impressed with the specs; especially, for the price. I could not touch an Alienware with the performance and specs that MSI has, for the price. I enjoyed gaming and watching movies with zero strain on th...
  • Cons: My HHD0 died on me on the first week. It took me a while to figure this out becuase the laptop booted and played games and movies. The indicator was blue screens and corrupted data and then the RAID software finally informed me of the failure. I am going on week four now without my laptop becuase...
