Summary: purchased in 9/12 for 899$. I was alternating between this laptop and my desktop. Its the answer to the performance and portability that i needed. Gfx card performed like my stock gtx 260 of old with the exception of it being on a lappy. I did need to mess with the settings as for the first year i owned it, i could not figure out how the msi overclock tool worked. Didn't care enough to figure it out till later. played movies great. would have loved a second hd bay.
Summary: Although my experience with this product has been one I would soon like to forget I would like to say that their customer service is top notch. They are prompt, friendly, and courteous. I hope these reviews help someone.
Pros: As stated in my previous reviews. Great, when it works.
Cons: I have now owned this laptop for 25 months. I have sent it in for RMA twice. First time something inside the laptop fried and it would no longer turn on. The second time the video card and hard drive had to be replaced. I was about to send it in a third time, which would be exactly 4 months now since the last RMA however, my warranty is finally expired. Since getting it back from the last RMA, 2 weeks after I got it back I would get random screen freezes. Sometimes it...
Summary: Honestly, I'm really, really nervous to keep owning this past the warranty period. I just know that something else is going to go drastically wrong. I'd rate this a three if it was based on daily use, but the fact that things just keep going wrong does not instill confidence for the longevity of the laptop. I'll probably try to sell it before the warranty is up and buy a different manufacturer...
Pros: - Great price for the specs
Cons: I waited a good while to write this review, knowing that too many issues crop up after the first year of ownership. So far, I've sent the laptop back to MSI four times in the 16 months or so that I've owned it. Twice because the monitor stopped working out of the blue. Once because the power port stopped getting charge into the battery. The other time I can't remember at the moment...
Pros: As stated in my previous review. Great, when it works.
Cons: Far to many issues with heat. I do not use the overclock button. Last issue, something overheated and fried, believe to have had something to do with the power supply. Now, computer keeps restarting randomly, usually while playing World of Warcraft. Reinstalled Windows via the on board restore option thinking it was a Windows issue. Worked for almost 2 hours, played WoW, poof! Restarted on its own again. I have a HUGE laptop fan under this thing and even run the built...
Cons: msi support is absolutely horrible. Laptop overheated within 6 months dropping fps in games so i had to get a laptop fan. Within 9 months the laptop starts to freeze and need to be manually rebooted. After i shipped it to msi the laptop got damaged and MSI customer service was rude and would never call back. Never buy from this company if you value your money, i lost 1000 dollars don't lose yours
Summary: I clean the surfaces regularly with soft cloth wipes like for phones. Because of that, the laptop still looks brand new after months of use. Only insignificant gripe there is how particles get trapped in the seams. With the right configurations for Shutdown preferences, I simply close the lid when I get up and the laptop shuts down after a little while on its own.
Pros: LCD is perfect, keyboard and touchpad are perfect. Bright vibrant image. Fast big laptop. It's more of a conveniently portable computer than a laptop though. It has a graphics-boost button which I still haven't had the need for! Runs Tomb Raider 2013, Sleeping Dogs, Sim City 2013, Minecraft, all perfectly. Can't wait to play Bioshock Infinite on this.
Cons: 1. Getting the audio drivers tweaked to work properly is impossible, and I still haven't figured it out and am left with a barely noticeable tinny sound when the volume peaks on movies, this happens with both the laptop speakers AND my HDMI TV speakers
Summary: I got this laptop around march of 2012. Purchased an SSD, and the mounting bracket to mount a second hard drive. It was difficult to find the mounting bracket online and had to purchase it from a 3rd party Vendor. This may or may not still be the case. Around July I started getting blue screens. I had already voided the warranty by installing the SSD so i figured I would troubleshoot it myself.
Summary: It was an excellent value. I got it end of life when it was discontinued and got a great deal on Newegg. I use this laptop everyday. and while it does not completely replace my desktop for gaming, it does an excellent job.
