Summary: i can run minecraft completely maxed out with optifine at 60 fps and i can go to about 80 if i turn off the fps limiter.
Pros: Fast, Superfast! This laptop comes with the i7 4810mq not the 4800mq. which is a 2.8ghz processor vs the 2.7. 8gbs vram?!? I dont think anything can utilize even half of that. I love the steel-series keyboard! The lights are cool and its super comfortable to type on. Decent Battery life.
Cons: Gets kinda warm. Just use the fan boost every once in a while. The stock Hdd bottlenecks this laptop a little.(I bought a samsung 840 evo for it) ultra fast. Really no serious complaints.
Summary: 8.1 windows yes it is the standard for all new PCs to ship with but it is still buggy and 7 is best for work / gaming computers
Pros: Price the best price per power components hands down
Cons: UPGRADES- BEWARE if you want to have the SUPER RAID 2 as advertised you will have to buy this MS-16F42 daughter board ($100) as it is not included!!!!!!!! This was not pleasent to order 3 - 240 GB ssd open up the back and now have to wait again for the board, Also do not expect it easy to find a retailer as MSI site is horrible and does not list this and the CUSTOMER SERVICE has yet to respond.
Summary: Overall, if you want an amazing gaming laptop and/or desktop replacement that will serve you well for many years... look no further than the Dominator-894. It's called "Dominator" for a reason. It's also the only laptop that I've seen so far at this price point with a Blu Ray drive that doesn't sacrifice something else like higher end graphics.
Pros: The MSI GT70 Dominator-894 is a ridiculous monstrosity of a laptop that will take anything you throw at it, chew it up, and spit it back out. With it's quad core, hyperthreaded Intel Core i7-4810MQ (yes, 4810 not the 4800 like this page says... according to CPU-Z.) it blasts through any game or application you want it to. I've even encoded 1920x1080 (using h264) in realtime with ffmpeg.
Cons: My only real complaint is that it's quite heavy. Actually using this laptop on your lap can be quite annoying. You should have a desk to place it on. If you're fine with that, you will NOT find a better price for these specs. Other laptops currently cost more and are less powerful.
Summary: Here's where the obligatory Windows 8 comments go... Not sure why there's so much hate towards the operating system. The metro page is fully customizable and is extremely useful once you take the 10 seconds to erase what's there by default and set it up the way you want it. I suppose the windows 7 / start menu fan-boys are too stuck on their desktop shortcuts or something.
Pros: Solidly built, there isn't anything on this computer that is/feels flimsy or that corners were cut during manufacturing. The action of the lid provides enough resistance so that it doesn't feel like you might break it, and the weight of the computer itself allows one to open the lid with just one hand.
Cons: The "Turbo" setting has to be manually initiated using the appropriate button. The computer will not step up the fan speed to max on its own. This might be an annoyance to some.
